The (rough) Survival plan
Pre Base Plan (day 1-5):
We all split up, recon either groups of 1 or 2. Gather the essentials and don ‘t fight anything (always run). Also don’t go into Deep woods or across swaps, especially at night.

The basic essentials include:

Grass
Twigs
Rock
Flint
Logs
Food
Flowers (picking restores sanity, eating flowers restores the heart and x12 will make a garland)

While on recon finding the following advanced essentials is good but not if it’s a risk.

Advanced Essentials:

Spider silk (web)
Pig skin
Spider gland
Charcoal
Gears (x1)
Eyebone
Manure
Beefalo wool

While on recon we want to be looking for gold and beefalo heards. If you find either of these you should let everyone know through chat.
If you find the gold you should mine it (over night if possible). We want at least 20 (one stack) of gold.

Finding the Beefalo is needed for our early base defence. If you find the Beefalo look for a safe place within running distance (at least 1 full screen away).

The base should be close but not too close the Beefalo. For the first few hound attacks we’ll run to the beefalo and let them do the work. When choosing the base you should consider; distance from rabbit holes and other supplies. Also base shouldn’t be too close to an edge because the Pengulls will jump in at winter. It’s also good to have it on a road so base is easy to find. Base should be a safe distance from pigs, spiders and anything else dangerous.

If you have the required resources for a fire pit and science machine set up a base when you are ready.

Once the beefalo and potential base have been located, we all head back to the spawn point and the person who found the beefalo can lead us back to the base area to set up. One annoying thing is that we can’t set way points on the map so this is the simplest option.

A Base is at least: x1 fire pit x1 science machine x1 crock pot

Base (day 5-23):
The hound attacks usually starts on day 7 but sometimes they can be a bit later (just listen out for the growls). As soon as you know they are coming run to the beefalo, if it’s night make sure you craft x2 torches. If you have the log suit or football helmet put it on. Make the hounds chase you around the Beefalo and eventually the mutts will get their heads kicked in. If the beefalo are on heat just keep moving!

The Hound’s bounty and a Death pit. The hounds will drop Hounds Tooth, this will let us build Tooth Traps to kill the bigger monsters. The first few waves of hounds they will only drop a few but it’s best to collect them for later. If you can’t get the tooth because the beefalo are on heat or something just go back later. Once we have at least 10 teeth, we should choose a death pit. This is a place where we can lure the hounds and other monsters. Death pits are are well placed on bridges to choke the attacker.

Although we want to be safe from monsters, the main focus now should be to prepare for winter.

From now we want to focus on expanding and levelling up crafting skills. The advanced essentials are now a must. It’s essential to build weapons and tools. We want to get traps out for the rabbits and start building farms. It’s also a good idea to go around digging up berry bushes and bring them closer to base.

We want to start hunting the spider to get silk and glands. Enlisting pigs to help with little missions is good, if they die you can collect their bounty. Getting the pigs to help will sort your sanity! Once our base has all the essentials we can looking into building the magic stuff.

As we get closer to day 20 we want to get our Winter Hats and Thermal Stones ready.

Winter (Day 23-36):
If we prepared well enough, we should be fine just gathering the essentials and stocking up on rabbits. Make sure you don’t go too far from base at winter and always take a thermal stone and the materials for a basic Fire.

Spring (Day 36- Forever):
As our base gets bigger we want to start expanding the map looking for more bounty, hopefully conquer and thrive!


Death:
If you die, you will become a ghost. Being a ghost means you will effect everyone’s sanity. In order to bring a ghost back you need a Telltale heart (spider gland and grass). Creating it will damage the player who made it.
