History

The Nr. 6 "Kronprinz" Grenadier Battalion von Plötz was established on 1674 to counter the Swedish invasion of the Brandenburg State for the protection of Berlin. At the time, she was named "Regiment Kurprinz" formed as a regiment of foot for the new elector; Frederick III (1657-1713). It was not until 1701 when the regiment had been renamed to "Regiment Kronprinz". The Prussian Grenadier Guards, the giant guard of the king, had been reduced on August 3, 1740 to a battalion. The previous II . Battalion was issued as a new II . Battalion of the Regiment Garde ( no. 15). As of February 7, 1743 Grenadier Guards led each the name of her boss .
