Chainsword

(Death Metal)

Chainsword is a polish quintet that plays some old school death metal. It takes about 5 seconds of listening to their material to figure out what their deal is: Chainsword is Bolt Thrower worship, plain and simple, although I don't use the term in a negative sense. They're not just cheaply trying to mimic the original music one to one, Chainsword tries to build their own sound a bit using them as a huge inspiration, plus they go all in on the Warhammer 40,000 theme, more than the original band did at least. And at the end of the day when all is said and done, Bolt Thrower's flavor of death metal still rules, I for one welcome any band trying to take a shot at the style, and Chainsword does a pretty good job at it. If you're a Bolt Thrower fan, consider giving these guys a chance.

Stone Nomads

Stone Nomads is a texan trio that plays some sludge/doom metal. While their 2022 debut has a lot of stoner vibes to it, their follow up album leaves most of that behind and leans heavily towards the sludge sound while adding a lot of black and death metal influences to the mix. Both sound good in their own way, but I gotta say, their heavier sound from the last album really stands out and makes for some pretty good sludge. Their two releases are worth a listen if you're a fan of the genre, so if that's your case, do give Stone Nomads a listen.

Gothminister is lead by Bjørn Alexander Brem who formed the band back in the late 90's. A few years later the band gain almost instant success and fame through playing in dark alternative music festivals around Europe such as Wave-Gothik-Treffen, Dark Storm Fest and M'era Luna Festival to name a few. So despite from Norway, the band is hugely popular in Germany thanks to these festivals. Today, the band has 8 albums in total with their latest single even reaching to 4th place in the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Fun fact, Bjørn Alexander Brem has a day job as an attorney at law when not working on Gothminister material.

Spider One also known by his real name Michael David Cummings is the frontman of Powerman 5000 and the younger brother of Rob Zombie. While gaining moderate success during the mid 90s, he didn't catch his big break until 1996's Ozzfest and only grew from there. With his second album coming out, it only shot him up to mainstream success in 1999. Most casual fans thing that was it for the band but they are wrong. The band is still active to this day. With the 00's being a weird transition for the band as they ditched the industrial rock in favor for alternative and punk rock. In the beginning of the 2010's they returned but with a sort of new wave and industrial sound while later returning to industrial metal. The band gain new fans thanks to signing to Cleopatr Records, the US biggest goth label. Their new album will be out very soon.
