You should play on easy on your first run. I was the same as you and was super frustrated at dying all the time. Especially cause I didn't get any companions for like 10 levels.

Use the turret damage model? i.e. restrict mobility, blow the sights etc.

And, yes, that's an overly simplistic way of looking at it (after all, Squad is not the only game in my library that would be improved with an upgraded card), but let's be honest, there are a lot of games that look better and run better than Squad on . . . let's say, aged graphics cards. The upcoming BF6's (reportedly) recommended specs are no where near what will be required to run Squad even halfway-decently once UE5 drops.

And we know, from experience, that Squad devs are not big on optimization when they can just rely on newer, better cards to bail them out.

Hey I still run the game on a 1060 6GB GPU, sure it's not ideal to play on medium settings in 1080i resolution, but at least I can play.... with 40-50 fps
