I'm pretty sure I've unlocked S2 just by beating 2-1.
Maybe you need to do all challenges/get all items there?

secret levels are unlocked by finding the secret scrolls, no?

OP is not lying, I’ve got the same problem :( I think it’s just with xinput. It’s inconsistent, but I think it’s safe to blame Fromsoft. Steam detects my Xbox controller, other games work fine with my controller, and I can use steaminput to make it work in Nightreign, but once I turn off steaminput the game doesn’t detect anything. It’s also happened in other souls games too but by far it’s the worst in Nightreign.

It’s also pretty well known that Fromsofts PC ports are usually bug riddled pieces of sht so idk why this is so hard to believe

What make and model of Xbox controller are you using?

And what type of transceiver? Onboard or USB? Again what make and model please.

again, the issue is literally only with nightreign so by simple process of elimination it can't be a connectivity problem, but since you asked im using an xbox one controller (model 1914) and ive tried with both onboard intel bluetooth, and over USB

That was one of the best segments. On area had more than 30 of them and I began to panic because I thought it was an infinite spawn. Took about an hour to stealth the whole level.

It also helps that when you do get into combat they increased the reload and healing speeds, cause they were assssssss before. Way too long.

While playing I took notes on things that I believe should be in the game.
-While the build menu is open you should be able to press "B" to close it as well as open said menu.
-There was quite a bit of audio overlap; dialogue lines should cancel if another is to play.-Character dialogue should be displayed longer if you are to read the caption that is displayed.
-Buildables get stuck under terrain if built too low; there should be a way to dismantle all buildables regardless of location.
-Middle mouse button should be used to easily switch between buildables.
-Having a hotbar for frequently used items would be nice to have.

It seems like there's a bug whereby trying to place a dark colour pattern (e.g. brown, black, etc.) on a light colour skin (e.g. white, yellow, etc.) doesn't work (I tested the recipes on the Sharky, Allyca and Tilopina species).

Weirdly, the opposite setup (light pattern on dark skin) seems to work just fine.

I've reported this bug in-game via the F8 reporting tool, I'm presuming it also affects the other 5 species too.

Yep, it does - at least for me, I've tried it on every critter I've found, including species 6. I've found species 7 and 8, but haven't gotten any genes from them other than variants and colours and patterns... kind of sad, because they are cute, and I'd like to experiment with them.

That odd colour-bug has existed for awhile now, and I think several of us have reported it - I know I did too. Maybe it's one of those 'how on earth is this happening?" things for the devs? Or maybe they have been busy (actually, I am sure they have).

The light-on-dark mix of colours do work quite well, though! I think, for now at least, it's just one of those things... :-)

I am hoping that when they do manage to fix this little bug, they will at the same time make it easier to get a good wide range of colours and genes - for that they would have to make the incubator easier to use.

My guess would be to either make the longer-shot colours/species happen more often, or maybe move to specific recipes for each bug/critter... either approach would help a lot to make it a lot less frustrating, and would make the food recipes more useful too. Maybe one day... :-)
