same thing. remakes are meant to be additions in a franchise or series of products, rather than replacements (as often used).

unlike sequels, they are meant to be easier to produce and cheaper than something completely new and more original: their role is to help keep a brand alive, and attract enough sales to fund more experimental and original projects (such as sequels, or even new ips).

also a remake, if done bad or poorly may damage a brand a lot more when used to replace or try to justify removing access to the original version, but may do little damage if its allow to "coexist" with the older version, since some people will still buy the older version if they learn from the difference in quality, or at the very least, can find the older version cheaper during a sale.

so the topic of "remake vs original" is not a real dilemma or useful for a debate, relative to their existence. the issues linked to remakes come from how they are produced, used by companies and sold.

from an objective point of view, making sequels is a non-issue. the real issue is to demand from devs access to the original versions, to preserve them (even if they didnt preserved the source code).

Starting off an argument with a red herring is a bit disengenious. Maybe you can argue if Golden was needed, but this is Atlus and we know they like to paywall their true endings.

But this is a narritive driven RPG. We know the story already, and the path is easily laid out for the developer.

Sure a retelling can be nice if done properly. But reselling the game for double for what I paid for on the Vita, likely incomplete on launch, where the main anchor to this game is already well known.... Kinda a bit much.
