I've never accepted a surrender early on because the free reactor+cockpit is so much more valuable lol
Supposedly, we're getting stuff like that, probably through the crew vs. crew combat later on, but that might be next year or later.

I actually decided to look into how to make a mod for the surrender stuff tonight. I'm planning on rewriting the dialog to be a bit more random, but I can't seem to figure out this games code. Hoping someone on the Discord will help me, but so far no answers.

Ideally, I'd like to rewrite the code to display random responses, based on the faction/personality you're dealing with, but Cosmoteer's language is weird, to say the least.

I'm actually curious now if a mod could even add an additional option to it that uses the "Transfer Ship Control" code.
So youd have:
"We surrender!"
- Payment in credits
- Payment via transferring ownership of ship + crew to player
- Refuse

As the options for a surrender.
Be a fun way to resupply any crew lost in combat without having to go to a station and rehire.
Could even allow it to break the crew cap for current Fame, but youd need to get even more Fame to hire new crew.

Now i kinda wanna see about learning modding for myself XD

If I may step in, as you're the OP of this thread, you have the opportunity to drop this back and forth right now, especially since the originating topic has been pretty much entirely covered. We know it's a bug, we know it's rare, but has happened before, and we know the solution is to not do anything in Torii that you don't want to risk losing. The best course of action at this point is to simply report the bug with the form in the pinned thread and any contributions here are up to anyone else who has also encountered the bug.
if other people have already come across this bug then i assume a bug report has already been filled, and if it hasn't been fixed since launch then it's probably a pretty hard bug to replicate. i feel like i should at the very least be able to document how the bug behaves without someone being disruptive
