double post but a more direct response to this:

So that is an important island. You do want to explore it more because there is more there that you missed. Without spoilers, what you want to do on the island is explore higher not lower this time (you don't need to go into the facility again for quite some time). Once you find a thing (you'll know it when you see it), use it. Then explore this new thing. During you're exploration, you will find some very important clues that'll put you on the right track.

It's beta you dunce. They have like 3 big maps on release and adding more just like any other BF.
