So, battlefield 6 seems to not need EA launcher when playing it, similar to the other EA game "it takes two".

However, you do need a EA account linked with your steam account.

People who hate launchers in their steam games in general... is this good enough? If a game you wouldn't buy because it had a launcher, would you still buy it if it only needed a email+password login field?

1. Unsolicited and unnecessary additional software that needs to be installed on your system. Often written poorly, wrapping a web view of some kind with a horribly outdated Chromium pulling web-based content off of a poorly secured server. I.e. a security incident waiting to happen.
   
2. Unsolicited sharing of additional personal data such as e-mail address with the publisher, when the launcher requires a third-party account login.
   
3. Unclear responsibilities when things like authorization/authentication stop working - did it go wrong on Steam's side? Or did it go wrong on the publisher's side? You don't know and the both of them will typically point fingers at each other, and tell you to take it up with the other party. Good luck getting out of that bind.
   
4. Undesired additional control by the publisher over the standing of the third-party account influencing your ability to play a game, even a single player one. Do anything in a totally unrelated game that they take issue with -- which can be something as silly as action taken based on very poorly setup automated word filters -- and you can find all past purchases of titles by that publisher suddenly locking you out.
