Check your anti-aliasing setting. I know one of the two methods results in the text being almost unreadable. I'm away from my computer right now so I can't check and see which one is the bad one.

I would call that a success, but there is an official ending:
When you reach the tower, go to the very top and find the emergency flares.
Then equip one and fire it up into the air and the game will end and tell you your stats.

The big map you see is indeed the route you took, don't mind the line that stops, as it's just a bug.

I think that line, that's you when u spawned, it's like u spawn at center and when you ready to play(press play\start) u will teleported to the start house
