For building underwater, I know if you use the Pak Utility Mod !fly command then you can build underwater while "flying". I remember you used to be able to build a ladder into the water and climb down it and build while still on the ladder, but not sure if that still works.

That sounds like a nice workaround! Will try using this to get some pipes and some powerlines to run underwater (and maybe a conveyor belt, although somehow that feels a bit silly and against the spirit of the game- but expiriments have no rules, so, hah ;-) )

i will never understand why steam cloud saves dont even have a basic form of versioning, since most games are allocated 1gb cloud anyway and barely use a fraction of that.

This would be ideal - even if old versions only lasted for 30 days, it would still make it possible to fix scenarios like this where there’s a sync issue.

I’m investigating doing manual backups using Decky plugins to mitigate against future sync issues. In this example I only lost a few hours, but I could imagine a scenario where the saves for a longer game get completely wiped, and there would be nothing that could be done.

If storage cost is an issue for Valve, I’d happily pay a small amount per year (e.g. $25 USD) for the added protection of versioned saves.

I use syncthing [from Discover store] on my deck to sync certain folders to my pc automatically, i believe it has a versioning function too with several different schemes. Not ideal though since i assume youd had to set up syncing for each games saves.
It would be much much easier to just have steam do a basic versioning, it already has some ability to deal with file versions since occasionally when it gets confused itll just ask you if you want to keep the local version or the cloud version.

I don’t get why adults have to tiptoe around because some retarded parents can’t do their job and protect their kid.

I don’t blame the kid, kids will explore and go to different places, natural curiosity, but the parents should be investigated for child neglect.
