Too many buttons

Originalmente postado por CalicoJack:
I hoped for a more simple button scheme like in the original games.
It is quite the opposite now. Too many buttons and combinations. The whole demo was a tutorial to learn all these movements and button combinations, when in the good classic games we could do so much with mostly 3 buttons as well.
And a freaking shop! omg.......Wtf is this? Why the need to buy ninja-skills all of a sudden!?!!?!!?!?

It´s the same they did with SoR4´s new/modernised characters but this time around I have no option to simply use the classic characters with their much better button layout.

Well, this sucks!
Thanks for the demo.

Edit:
It´s not about having difficulty learning the button layout and mechanics or being not good enough at the game.
It´s simply the fact that this game (demo) is too far off from the original games with it´s new control scheme and added game mechanics.
I agree.

My opinion is, as a person that played Shinobi in the Arcade, Shadowdancer in the Arcade, Super Shinobi, Shadow Dancer & Shinobi "3" on Sega Mega Drive/Genesis....... the awful Shinobi Legions on Sega Saturn... this feels allot like the latter.

Don't forget Shinobi was an Arcade game first and foremost, as such it was played with three buttons... an Attack, Jump and Ninjutsu button. Melee attacks where skilled attacks because "Attack" shot a throwing knife and you had to press the Attack button when you where in the correct range of an enemy. There was a bonus for not shooting ranged shots at all at the end as well as not using Ninjitsu.

Super Shinobi took exactly that layout and added more Ninjutsu, cooler wide open levels, a bigger variety of enemies to let the player loose on.
Shinobi III then build on that by giving Joe more options,he has a variety of acrobatic moves, including the ability to jump off walls, as well as double jumps, ceiling grabbng and dashing.

Most importantly most enemies died in one hit which made the game really fast and "Arcade~y".

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance feels like a Beat-em-up game first and foremost with some platforming as an afterthought.
At least it isn't a Metroidvania...
