I mean Larian heavily home brewed stuff but you kinda have to with 5th edition given how much it leaves up to the DM, how vague many rules are and how simplified they made the system.

Its actually one of the many reasons so many tables in my area switched to pathfinder 2.
The rules are more complete and better thought out, it has more options for building characters, it rewards people more for tactical combat, the CR calculator isn't a complete mess and to top it off everything aside from specific adventure paths is free online at Archives of Nethis.

It ends up making the job of the DM a lot easier and I can honestly say in all the years of playing pathfinder that I have rarely run into people playing characters the same way from table to table which always keeps it interesting especially with league play (where we can take a character from one group to another)

I had the Basic starter set from the late 1970s, and then I played AD&D when those rulebooks came out. I stopped playing D&D in the 1980s when I went to college, and I only started getting interested in it again during the pandemic when it was something fun to watch on You Tube.

I did play BG1 and BG2 when the EE editions came out, but basically I missed 2e, 3e, 3.5e, and 4e.

Shame you missed 3.5, the character creation & build options then put every other edition to shame.

The guys who made 2e-3.5 split off to make pathfinder 1e, then later reworked the entire system from top to bottom to make pathfinder 2e, which finally got rid of the balance problems 1e & 3.5 had via the introduction of better proficiency scaling, a better action economy and limiting just how much crap could be stacked.

I hope it's a full on summoner this time around. It could be something like Hades archetype

There are real issues with this game such as (lack of)optimization. Bad paid cosmetic(lol space furries), not enough wwz-style mob pillars/floods(many enemies from campaign are unused in operations)...etc.

Assault isn't one of those issues. It's not flawless but it's strong now, once again you are a classic case of PEBKAC. Those like you are flooding the devs with worthless data that bury good ideas that come by once in a blue moon.
