You listed a handful of games that got lucky. Their marketing was all the streamers and people playing it. Pretty sure Among us released dead and just got resurrected, because it got lucky.

Not every game can get lucky. Damned 2 will not be lucky so it will not become free. There are so many indie multiplayer games that just dont have enough players. Even with publishers, its hard to keep your players. But damned 2 released with a peak of 53 players. 53! That has nothing to do with how lobbies work. Its just 53 people knew about it, and decided to buy it.

Calling Minecraft, Among Us, Stardew Valley, Undertale, Valheim, and FNAF "just lucky" is pure cope. That's not luck — that's player retention through a welcoming community and gameplay people wanted to share. Streamers only amplify what's already fun and accessible. Among Us didn't magically revive itself by chance; it exploded because people could jump into open lobbies and immediately have chaotic fun with strangers. That's community design, not fate.

And "Damned 2 peaked at 53 players" is exactly the point. New players showed up, saw nothing but password-locked cliques, and bounced. If you're a newcomer and 90% of lobbies are locked, you don't stick around — you uninstall. A healthy multiplayer game needs openness, not walls.

Blaming "luck" is just a way to dodge responsibility. Games don't die because the universe rolled bad dice — they die because the community makes them unwelcoming. No amount of ads, publishers, or streamer hype can save a game if players join, find the doors shut, and leave. That's why Damned 2 is dying: not because it missed a miracle, but because the people in it are strangling it.

I just had a screamer spawn then vanish. F1 showed "moving to point of interest" and gone, so disappointed. Any base you make to generate enough heat should be able to handle them.

Hm, I don't see the auto-repair button even though I have explored 100% of all decks of a wreck and certainly have all parts.

I built a base and had a terrace that I parked my scout orni on. Assumed it was protected. Nada. Logged in the next day and it was destroyed. So yes, only things in areas that are "enclosed" (or maybe sheltered?) in your base are protected, along with wind generators and moisture traps that are on your roof or whever.

we died at the bossfight and have to redo the whole collecting evidence, getting to the hospital and crouching through it for 20 minutes just to maybe die at the bossfight again... there needs to be another checkpoint, because like this my friends said "no f this, enough for the day"

Interessting. I've turned my pump of and o2 does not drop either. It looks like the pressure alarm just triggers because pressure is low, the pump pumps, but the 02 just disappears without preasurizing the room.
