In general damaging DOT's are really, really, really weak in it's current state unless massively modified or built around and even then leaves only moderate results.

This is mainly focused around Fire, Acid, bleed, and toxic/bio.

All of them are terrible for damage and instead are best used for some sort of utility over damage, because it is so low.
A example would be fire.

Fire's DOT capabilities as compared to KF2 is greatly reduced over instead doing direct damage. specifically to weak-spots.
(Weak-spot damage outclasses DOT in a very night and Day difference.)
(KF2 had them are more comparable, but here they are complete opposites.)

Ground fire has been also reduced heavily and while makes sense to an extent feels way too over tuned to the point where DOT and it's duration basically does not exist because the duration and max duration is so short even with FireBug's burn duration extension.
Which makes it a pointless talent as "Focus FIre" in the same skill choice line completely overshadows it.

However regarding the other DOT's they lack any sort of similar possible extension or usefulness and as such makes any such DOT is very weak, leaving only Utility based ones such as Freeze, Enfeeble, stumble, shock/stun, confusion, etc.

The G33 is really the only "Main" extension or affliction based weapon and few classes really allow the use of it.

The M7 is generally better for applying fire, but it is so weak to armor that it might as well be a water gun. (HOE difficulty scaling being crazy high for most weapons to compete.).

For class balancing sure okay, not all weapons need to kill everything, but if you are gonna keep weapons like the Vulcan, Ninja's Katanas, or Explosive Shot gun shells, then please at least consider giving it some attention.
At least to the point where it can be used effectively on HOE.

Generally there are far superior choices (Non "active" Dot's) as they provide more value than the others for the TTK against the Zeds.
(At least to me personally as of typing).


The main issue I have with afflictions is that their duration is far, far too short save for perhaps the more utility based ones.
(These including Freeze, Shock/Stun, Confusion, Enfeeble, etc)

Fire, Acid, confusion, Bio (Toxic), all seem to last such a short amount of time, with no real perks to allow for actual use.

For the more utility based ones (Shock, Stun, Enfeeble, Freeze, etc) I do think generally speaking should have a shorter (Current) duration than the more damaging ones as the utility based ones generally interrupts the zeds rather than the damage kills over time. (Unless they have high stagger or some other synergistic affliction to build upon, which is cool.).
(Combining Stumble and Freeze for example, or Fire & shock, etc)

But afflictions like Fire, Toxic, Bleed, etc (On their own) really need some attention to actually get some use out of the aside from just playing on normal/hard difficulty.

The duration is my main issue, but anyway the player could build upon or extent their use would be appreciated.

I am not sure if they need a straight up damage buff, but given their duration is so short (Especially on bosses). It is hard to tell how to buff them to be on par with the utility ones.
Confusion, Enfeeble, and Frost are by far the best Afflictions at the moment, with the rest falling behind.

Simply Put direct damage is superior in every way than trying to build around DOT's.
(Even if some utility is built into them like when used in the G33).

Toxic might be the weakest if not only for the very few ways to actually apply it.

There are Weapon mod (Tier 4) Bonus's to grant extra "Toxic Power" (Usually +10 or +15 from memory) However the only real way to apply it is from Medic's Bio Grenades. (Unless you spam darts which are super weak, as they should be, so the bonus ability really does not makes sense tbh. Especially given how most weapons can not even apply the status effect).

(Unless dealing "Bio" also counts and dealing "Toxic" even though "Bio" is a damage type, not a DOT.)

To conclude.

Please consider buffing damaging DOT's either in damage or duration in some capacity (Perks, Talents, weapon mods, etc).
It would be greatly appreciated, if nothing else at least make them viable for solo play. :)
