I'm a 60-year-old man who has been with Steam for more than Twelve years. I don't give a crap about what issues you may be having, but PayPal is my PRIMARY source for payment. Forcing me to use a credit card just to buy something I am more than entitled to buy is BS. Please get this resolved soon. I DO NOT like using credit cards. The upcoming 1.1.20 (Aug 12) patch removes safe flour-sand and spice zones, boosts worm aggro, and nerfs static compactors—expect 60–75% lower net yields. Pre-stock materials, switch to high-risk nodes with escorts, and run your compactors in hardened, rootless Podman containers.

No More Safe Zones – Primrose & Flower Sand moved into deep desert; worms everywhere.

Worm Breaches – 50%↑ short-breach frequency; immediate-death on touch.

Compactor Threat – Static units now draw massive worm aggro → 3–5 runs/day max.

Mobility Tweaks – Ornithopters repel each other (less griefing, trickier group runs); new boost for faster sweeps at fuel/heat cost.

Which is better for destroying a base: rockets or bombs?

It depends on the fact how BR you play, what kind of aircraft you have, how much weapons you can carry, etc.

As for efficiency, i.e. damage vs. weight, number, napalm wins, which is not available on lower BRs, or not every aircraft may have it.

Then there are conventional bombs and then rockets.

Rockets have the advantage of being light, they are not as heavy as bombs and you can shoot them from a greater distance, which sometimes gives you the advantage of damaging the base even when the enemy is a bit ahead of you, but you manage to destroy the base sooner. But they have lower damage than bombs, which often have the disadvantage of weight, the need to get close to the base, or the need to slow down below Mach 1, or the speed of dropping bombs.

So if, for example, you can deal the same damage with missiles as with bombs due to the aircraft's armament, I would use missiles, but in most cases bombs are more effective, because as I mentioned, missiles have lower damage and you don't have enough of them.

Honestly, if you don't have the necessary damage to destroy at least 75 percent of the base, I would rather go fight enemy planes and spend time and energy on kills than at all costs damage the base where you unnecessarily expose yourself to the risk of attack, which is not worth the points gained from only moderate damage to the base. Realistically, if I am not able to destroy the entire base, I will not even attack the base and from the very beginning I prefer to attack enemies, but AI which will give you more points than damaging a small part of the base.

I wouldn't want mercenaries with such a role and implementation as in D2 personally. No power, no buffs, no equipment farming, nothing of that short. I can see how there would be some benefits for a mercenary-like pet that can take care of minor duties such as automatically taunting and distracting weak mobs while doing usual pet duties like picking and breaking destructibles.

Wouldn't want the devs spending much if any time on this until another year or two though.

Speed up the game and just stare at the numbers as it chews away. Report back with your findings. I'm interested to see if the power usage and heat output returns a net negative for energium.
