Not so dark future...

That's not the concept, here.
The Ai would have a "placeholder" in the initial build of the game.
Separate to the development of the game, AI would be trained on the Shadowrun Lore and given set boundaries.

Are you telling me that you wouldn't want to have a unique experience in the shadowrun universe?
No, I'm telling you I am prioritizing a GOOD experience over a unique one.

As others have said, various entertainment products have already tried to incorporate AI in the ways you describe and I have yet to see one that delivered a thoroughly compelling experience. Like Kind Buddy said, LLMs frequently hallucinate and forget, so it's just a matter of time until an initially interesting experience breaks down because you run into a state where the machine's writing fails the atmosphere and/or consistency, crushing the immersion of the moment. I've seen that happen several times with "AI" chatbots trying to imitate famous characters from fiction (see below).

The risks just outweigh the gains. First and foremost, I want *good writing* more than anything else.

Anything in tech (including videogames-) that can be done well, can be done better with the proper use of AI
This bit sounds like propaganda. I've had to work with AI professionally for translations, I've seen friends try to use it for roleplaying, and I've briefly dabbled in it privately for one or two art assets out of curiosity to see what was possible, Each of these incidents was *interesting*, but each of them was also notably *flawed*.

Do you really want to tell me that just nobody in the whole industry has figured out how to "properly" use AI yet? If that's the case, wouldn't it be a bit risky by a hypothetical Shadowrun game dev to enter this race as *yet another* studio that tries to be the first?

Excellent points and very well elaborated. The pro AI points don't hold up under scrutiny, practical use and even the trajectory of the technology. LLMs are incredibly bad for the environment and a dead end tech based on what I've seen. The garbage they produce is only good for low quality tech demos and a gullible audience buying into the hype.

detlarune theory/ questions thread
I have one basic theory, and a few small ones that are additional evidence for the main one.

-- basic theory: we'll find Dess on weird route.
the essence of the theory:

Before the release of the new chapters, we got a call to action: "find her", this is the name of the guitar version of the track "lost girl", which refers to Dess. to find a person, you need to look for her, that is, it is unlikely that we will find Dess when completing a regular route without completing side tasks, we have three options that can be considered a "search": egg search, battles with secret bosses and weird route.

searching for eggs does not allow us to find Dess, as it has no connection with Dess, so this option is not suitable for us.

the secret bosses are already more interesting, since two of them have a connection with Noelle (spamton, Knight), spamton is a mandatory boss on weird route, Seam promised to make something special for us from five shadow crystals (probably pure crystal), but at the same time, the secret bosses do do not have any direct connection with Dess (except knight), so it's unlikely that we'll be able to find Dess just by defeating the secret bosses (at least nothing indicates that).

and finally: Weird Route.
1) one of the main characters of weird route is Noelle.
2) on the Spamton Sweepstakes website, there is a page with information about weird route, and in the fifth chapter we will hear the guitar version of the hometown theme, and the guitar is directly related to Dess.
3) the music that plays before the battle with Berdly (d.ogg) is suspiciously similar to the bass guitar playing in the song "Raise Up Your Bat", which was probably written by Dess.
4) In Dess's room, the wallpaper looks like the northern Lights, and in the mini-game in the third chapter (sword route) there is a room where music is playing, called NORTHERNLIGHT, and it says "GO TO THE NORTHERN LIGHTS".

It follows from all this that weird route has a direct connection with Dess, and perhaps in the fifth chapter we will find or at least come close to finding Dess.

-- FRIEND Theory:
In general, this is the whole theory: We will fight with a FRIEND in the shelter in order to find Dess.

On weird route, before the battle that takes place deep in the shelter, ERAM says that part of Kris enjoyed what happened yesterday. ERAM also claims that it can see in the dark, which probably means it's watching us in the dark wolds. This all means that ERAM has been following us since at least the second chapter, knows and encourages weird route, and knows Kris even before the game starts.

There are not many characters we know who fit this description: Everyman and FRIEND.

In the case of Everyman, there is no information, yes, he appears in some chapters, and in both worlds, but is described as just a man who happens to be in different places (I'm not sure if Everyman is not a joke).

But with FRIEND, everything is much more interesting. FRIEND appears in all chapters starting from the second:
-the second chapter: in the basement of the mansion.
-the third chapter: during Ralsei's story about the dark worlds, FRIEND goes beyond the illustration, which means it was real FRIEND, and not part of the illustration. Also, ERAM will spawn small copies of a FRIEND.
-fourth chapter: in one of the dark mazes, in total darkness, FRIEND is watching the team, which means that this FRIEND can see in total darkness.
-It's also likely that a FRIEND was present in the first chapter, as someone stole shadow mantle, and later it ended up in ERAM's possession

The FRIEND's attitude to weird route is not known for certain, but there are theories that it was FRIEND who was involved in the loss of Dess (I will not explain this in my theory, there is quite a big theory there), from this we can conclude that FRIEND is at least not an indifferent observer and not a "kind" character, it will also explain that that ERAM, and therefore FRIEND, knows Kris even before the events of the game begin.

From all this, I can conclude that ERAM is most likely a character in the game controlled by FRIEND. but why does it even matter?

In this game, the events of the weird route are shown, from this I can assume that this game itself is part of the weird route (namely defeating the knight) and will predict future events of this route. The moment Kris kills his friends, I would relate to the fact that it was Kris who most likely knocked out his friends after the fight with the knight.

It means that the only moment for which this game gives us a prediction is the bunker, and the battle with ERAM. Even with the fact that Eram is a FRIEND, there is a lot of room for conflicting interpretations.
I think one of the goals of weird route is to find Dess, which means that on weird route we will come to the bunker and fight with a FRIEND who is responsible for her disappearance, perhaps this battle will not be to the death, but will end the same way as in In the third chapter, a FRIEND will say something like "take her away" and leave, or maybe not only Kris will participate in this battle (or maybe Kris won't participate at all), but also Noelle, in which case this battle may end fatally.

-- The Dark World in the fifth chapter:
The dark world in the fifth chapter will be in the bunker.

1) Gerson describes the fifth chapter as follows: "field of pink and gold, burning in the fire of jealousy," pink and gold are the color of the eyes of a FRIEND who is probably in the bunker.

2) in the mini-game in the third chapter, we get the "key" to the shelter and get into the shelter itself, and all the previous predictions obtained through this game have already come true.

3) the enemy in the fourth chapter, who demands to choose the correct spelling of the word for mercy, all the words are music names, and among these words, there are music names that are not yet in the game, and one of these words is ROOTS, BIT ROOTS plays in the eight-bit version of the bunker, a prophecy telling about the place where the forest was supposed to grow it's called ROOTS (the forest was supposed to grow where the bunker is located).

4) the number for weird route in the fifth chapter on Spamton Sweepstakes website is less than the number two, which means that in the fifth chapter there will be less weird route content (in time), so most likely we will end up in a bunker in the fifth chapter on both routes.

These are my basic theories, my magnum opus.
I would not mind learning more information about these theories, both confirming and refuting.
