Kind of agree about it not being an RPG. It really is more of an AA since the difference in role is basically limited to cosmetics and choose-your-own-adventure storytelling. But, that's what a lot of people include under the RPG umbrella now.

And no, it's nothing to do with Steam retail sales. MS literally does not care as much (or at all) about one-time sales. They're looking for subscribers. They're entire games services business model is built around it, and they doubled-down on that with the recent studio acquisitions. They are, 100%, encouraging GP subs. And it's working.

while quests do give a large chunk of xp.... killing enemies, making skill checks.... they can contribute a lot...

like using the xp share thing in Act 1....

im level 2 after meeting Lann and Wenduag....
im level 3 by time I reach water elemental in shield maze....
im level 4 before leaving tavern
im level 5 about halfway through market square
im level 6 by time I return to defenders heart after rescuing storyteller

majority of my xp is from killing enemies and doing double skill checks.... as in if a mobility or athletics check exists... chances are there is another to go the other direction.... so do a check to go one direction for xp.... then do another to go back for another xp gain...

plus those tougher enemies offer way more experience than normal ones you encounter... same with skill checks... higher ones reward more xp than weaker ones....

plus more enemies means more loot... means more to sell for gold to buy more counters for even tougher enemies... or better gear in general....

Personally wish skill checks were better implemented. Like, no exp for doing them and when doing certain acrobatics have the entire party roll. The skill system in this game is so bad. One person can jump over ravine? Ok then everyone can! KC needs to convince someone? Oh hey Ember, the street loser, do this for me! I think this game has maybe the worst skill system of any similarly styled games I've ever played. And this is not necessarily an issue with the D20 or Pathfinder system. It's Owlcat just turning it into something completely rediculous. I find myself clambering up and down walls for no reason other than to see: party gains 400 EXP.... .... yay... It's litterally the same thing as just adding 4K exp through toybox when you enter an area. Then just ignore those skill checks since they're pointless anyway. I wish they didn't grant EXP and were better implemented. But as you say, if you want to grind EXP and get the most out of it. You meta your way through this and makes you feel like an idiot while doing it.

your argument makes since with it being a single player game....

but in a tabletop setting you'd have other players who are better at the skill checks doing the persuasion and such....

as for athletics and mobility checks and the whole party.... i'd say it depends on how its performed.... like how involved is the one performing the skill check for the others?..... are they just doing it or are they guiding the rest of the party with the safest pathing on how to do it?....

why cant you get it i understand but the problem is that the game isnt forcing the players to go to the castle,every time i play my team scateres oround the map and the enemie team in the other hand is grouping up to take over our base i didnt even won 1 game because of that and the reason why you should spawn in the castle is that the players should always be spawning there to defend the base from the enemy team if theyre near the castle because with out it peaple will just avoid doing that because its optional and making peaple spawn in the base will force them to fight the enemie team as soon a sthey spawn when theyre near the castle to make the game go longer and forcing the enemie team to put in more work

I bought the game on August 21st, and the refund I applied for after the game was found to be unworkable, until now......
The game lasts 3.8 hours, and the S3 season doesn't even create a character, is it reasonable not to give a refund?
