Besides not really, Detonator would still be easier for Ryzeal to bring out and it works with the Ryzeal spells/traps unlike Drident.

Funnily enough. Drident has been banned twice so far. Once to kill Zoo. And, the second time to stop Drident into Zeus being in every deck. Popularized by Tri-Brigade. Power creep at it's finest that it's considered "balanced" now. But, I'm a biased TD Zoo player. Unban my boy Broadbull and unlimit our girl Ratpier. The game is at the point that these are fair.

What would work to fix Detonator is to make the first effect a Soft Once per Turn. Or, ban what ever the card is that let's it come back. I can't remember the name atm.

Yeah, when I said Drident is balanced I meant relative to where most decks are at. It's insane that we've gotten to a point where Zoodiacs are fine (ditto on both the unban and unlimit, I doubt they'd be an issue atp).

Hell Dragon Rulers were so busted the whole archetype was banned, but now they're unbanned and nobody cares save for the occasional Blaster in Tenpai. Same goes for Dragon Link which iirc is at full power now.

I'd prefer making the pop SOPT, but banning Plugin would be fine too.

Right? Every time some gamer is shocked and angered that game devs want to get paid for their work, I wonder how they'd react if a customer came up to them and started yelling that they should do their jobs for less money, or for free. Somehow I doubt it would get a warm reception.

Everyone making these type of arguments is missing the point. Nobody thinks the devs should be working for free, and the value or lack thereof of this particular DLC is beside the point.

The issue is that these micro-sized DLC (especially 2 of them in a row) indicate a shift in business strategy toward smaller transactions (ie. "Micro" transactions). The fear then, is that there will be eventually enough of these microtransactions to outpace the cost of the game itself. At that point, Egosoft the company is forced to come to head with the fact that there is more money to be made from MTX than from the game.

Suddenly, the game is no longer the product... the MTX are, and the game becomes a vessel for the sale of MTX. Then comes ingame storefronts, purchasable cosmetics, a deluge of minor purchases justified by the argument of "funding development". Not to mention pre-sale content cutting and the various other distasteful practices that are involved with that business model.

"You're being dramatic". No, I'm describing the exact means by which dozens of beloved franchises have been destroyed already. A fate which I pray to God does not happen to x4 or the x-franchise in general

If put in perspective of how Egosoft as a company treats the X series and knowing that the community asked for ship dlcs and thinking less about Scamcitizen the "You're being dramatic" thing hits right home.
