What about difficulty options in the future?

Sad Blueberry
I think the game would benefit well if it had a difficulty option. Some ideas I think of at the basic level is normal difficulty, hard, easy. And then something I would personally love is custom difficulty where we are allowed to change many things like how strong enemies are, tweaking the shop prices when you buy and sell, or making energy easier/harder to manage (for people who wanna wear heavy armor because it looks cool but dont like the high energy drain), or any other things you guys can come up with.

In it's current patch, the game just seems to be harder than the last patch. But by harder, I don't mean it's difficult, just more strict. I don't want to go look up some guide and follow what someone else did to have success at this game, but it is extremely punishing if you don't play a particular way. Example, if you don't get the right skill at the mid/bottom of the skill tree and you didn't put your attributes properly, you can get hard stuck where you fight enemies who are too strong and you can't defeat them or you face the early weak enemies who make the grind take too long since they drop little xp relative to the amount you need to level up. There is no respec so all you can do is start a new game or try hard and struggle in the current run.

One big reason I was interested in this game to begin with was how we as the player have the ability to make so many different characters with different playstyles. Several patches before, we were able to play the game differently too such as playing the game as a hunter who mainly hunted for food and to make a small living. A fisherman who fishes for food (havent tried but i believe this was possible). With the new foods added into the game with the current patch, I wanted to cook lots of dishes, eat some and then sell some to the inn and feel like a chef or someone who provides food to establishments to feed the people.

But right now it just feels like the devs want to force us to only do quests and crawl dungeons hence why a lot of those things I listed is not really possible anymore. Selling stuff like weapons and armor from bandits no longer sell for a small penny like 3-13 gold, now it just isn't accepted at all. Tossing things on the floor now eventually despawns it especially in towns so you are kind of just forced to ignore most loot that isn't even sellable and you have limited storage space to store them. There's no reason to even store them because they have no use and literally can't be sold for small profit. I made food in game and reselling it is pointless because you are only at a deficit. Meat skewers sell for 4 gold, you are better off just selling sticks for 1 gold each. Makes no sense to me why the guy who wants furs does not want mangled fur, won't buy it for a single gold, but will buy sticks for 1 gold, does that make any freaking sense? On top of all this, the price of food and everything seems to have sky rocket. To feed my character once a day at the inn would cost anywhere from 20-50gold. You can only make money from quest rewards and dungeon respawns now and hoping you find a few treasures to sell for your lunch.

But yeah, it's like the devs just want to force players to do quests and dungeons only, while adding all these cool things like hunting fishing gathering cooking and skills for them but pointless because you can't make a living doing those things anymore. Early on, you kind of just want to focus on combat because if you don't, you get soft locked where you cannot defeat bandits/animals and they pop out of nowhere and there's no escape. Running to towns doesnt save you either because they will attack and sometimes perma kill npcs/vendors and you also if you play a mage you will get in trouble doing magic in towns even if you are trying to stop bandits. so then when the enemies catch up to you, you die and reload losing progress, unless you got dash or mobility skills early.

So I think a difficulty option would be great because it will give the player more options to play different playstyles. Maybe it might allow people to once again make a small living from hunting, farming, foraging. And would help for people who aren't meta gaming and just playing casually, such as not following a build guide and rather just picking what sounds interesting. Like flame swordsman where you have sword and the ring of fire spell because you just wanna do fun flavor for your character even if it might not be optimal. So if I wanna play the game in a more chill way because I wanna try out a fun build, or i wanna play hard mode because i want a challenge, it would be nice having those options and I believe difficulty options would be a great addition.
