While everyone can play the Battlefield 6 open beta, there is an early access period that starts two days in advance, but you can only access this if:

You signed up to Battlefield Labs before July 31, then log in with the EA Account you registered with.
You watched select creators on Twitch during the July 31 reveal streams to unlock an early access code (see below).
You are an EA Play Pro subscriber, then log in with the EA Account linked to your subscription.
NEW: You watch creators streaming Battlefield 6 on Twitch for 30 minutes during the early access period on August 7 and 8 (see below).
The Battlefield 6 open beta is available to all players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the EA app, with no registration or code required to access it during the Battlefield 6 beta times. You do need to link your EA Account to your platform account to get started, so if you haven't done that already then this guide from EA will walk you through that.

I'll be honest, I am on Windows 11 and I didn't even realise secure boot was turned off until I tried to launch the BF6 beta and I got the pop up telling me I needed to enable it, it literally took me 2 minutes to boot into my BIOS, go over to the security tab, scroll down to secure boot, enable it, hit escape then select save and quit.

Booted back to Windows and the game launched.

Most people don't even know what secure boot does, they are just complaining because they have seen other people that also don't have a clue complaining.

Most people are complaining because they have some old trash system that does not even support secure boot so they are upset that they cannot play.

Secure boot checks programs on startup against a key list of allowed programs. The thing is you can add custom keys to secure boot so this doesnt really do anything but inconvenience people and possibly damage their pcs if they dont know what they are doing.

For some they will turn on secure boot and everything will be fine. For others they could get a black screen after turning it on which is only easily fixed if you happen to have an APU. Then theres the people that are still on MBR instead of GPT those people will be required to format their drives to be able to turn secure boot on. Some will require a bios update which is never recommended for average users because it does carry the risk of bricking your motherboard if something goes wrong and you dont have bios flashback. Also most linux distros including SteamOS wont run with secure boot so this is a big middle finger to linux and steam deck users. The average pc user treats their pc like a console, they buy a prebuilt from somewhere and they know basic operation, beyond that they shouldnt be messing with these kinds of things because they dont know what they are doing and EA doesnt list any of these risks in their guides to turning on secure boot.

Rate is speed. Increased speed means you reach the destination faster. In your case it means the skill gets ready to be used quicker.
TLDR: more CD rate = quicker CD.

It is a requirement for their kernel level anticheat. Secure boot checks signatures of the bootloader, if it is not signed, booting fails.

My objection is mainly that it is intrusive and ineffective against modern cheating. Modern cheats avoid the kernel. Also, there are many legitimate reason why one could be using unsigned bootloaders.

It effectively makes it so that you don't get to decide what you run anymore. The corporations that issue signatures do. Granted, one game requiring it is not a big deal, but if I learned something about corporations, is that they looooooove to lock people into using their software. This is basically a small example of what the Apple controversy was all about, that people couldn't jailbreak their Iphones, use their hardware how they want.

Not to mention that a multibillion company passes the buck to the end user, while they could have just given us a server browser and let us moderate our own servers. Much more effective against cheaters.

One really should question their motives in this.

If this thing snowballs, I unironically think that our pc's are going to be locked like that on the level of an Iphone. I really hope that doesn't happen, but yeah. You give these guys a finger, they take the whole arm. The state that modern gaming is in proves that already.
