There seem to be a lot of reasons why players prefer NMRIH (1) over NMRIH 2:
(These are just my general thoughts based on the store pages of NMRIHs.)
RATINGS: NMRIH 2 got Mixed (~63-68%) rating, where NMRIH 1 got Very Positive (~89-92%) rating.
PRICE : NMRIH 2 is very expensive (~30 euros), which I think is too much for a game with Mixed ratings... would you ask your friends to buy it? NMRIH 1 is free and fun and because it's free, it's easy to ask friends to try it.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: NMRIH 2 has a significantly higher system requirements (maybe 500-1000€ computer required), where NMRIH 1 runs smooth on a toaster (maybe 100-500€ computer is good enough). NMRIH 1 also supports Linux unlike NMRIH 2.

Despite having over 2 900 active playhours on NMRIH 1, I'm not self going to try NMRIH 2 until at least 2 of those mentioned reasons will stop concerning me.

According to what I've heard, NMRIH 2 "coming soon in 2017" was a huge disappointment, when it came out in last October 2024. The first impression wasn't very good, but it seems to be gaining frequent updates (big updates once in 1-2 months), which means that the game is developing. Perhaps one day it will get "Mostly Positive" rating.
Don’t forget that second game isn’t a faithful sequel. Still a lackluster from what was promised until they add the missing stuff back :v

Cannot believe it took weeks for a infection system to be added.

When they revealed Ginsetsu as the Leg lmaoendary Card for Abyss the last set, i also have the same thought as OP. Who the hell needs a 9 mana card when Abyss early game was so bad you might not even get to 9 mana in the first place, and Rune gonna end the game at turn 10 anw so why bother with a 9 mana card that isnt a finisher. Now looking at Abyss current state, turn out the Bronzes and Silvers are what carried Abyss from trash tier to become a tier 1 craft. So from my experience with the last set, i dont agree with what OP said at all.

sniper is a support class so he's only good when supporting a team that's already doing well he doesn't make or break a game. he can't stop pushes by himself.

I don't understand all the delusional glazing from it's fans. I'd argue the game is in a worse state than when we last had a test. If they spent more attention to QA and feedback and far less on marketing it would be better off.

It is possible, but you're right about it being hardcoded. There's no config to change, no way to pick your own save location in the normal fashion.

However, you can redirect the save folder, which accomplishes the same thing, like so:

Navigate to the game's main save directory: \steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\. Move the entire Games folder to your desired new location. For example, D:\EmpyrionSaves\Games\.

Create a symbolic link.

Open Command Prompt as an administrator by searching for "cmd" in the Start Menu, right-clicking it, and selecting "Run as administrator." (You can't get admin command prompt by typing "cmd" into windows app search, it won't have admin rights.

Enter the following command, replacing the file paths with your own:

mklink /J "C:\<Your Steam Library>\steamapps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games" "D:\EmpyrionSaves\Games"

Press Enter. The command prompt will confirm that a symbolic link was created.

This will only work if you are logged into an admin account & open the command prompt as administrator.

In the end, Empyrion will try to save where it always did, but Windows will redirect the save folder location to the new location you specified.
