I meant to comment upon that as well actually. It's conflating the two different parts of what happened on screen. One story is about how he hired a pretty 17 year old waitress.

The other is how hiring the person who asked to be a stewardess working on his plane would be like a death wish for him because hiring pretty women is his form of alcoholism.

We don't actually know the age of that woman who asked how she could be his stewardess, whomever she was.

However if we're reading between the lines, then that woman did remind him of a 17 year old.
