You definitely have never run a business before. It's not as easy as you think to "hire more devs". I don't know what the TVSG business structure is or Australia's particular business and tax laws, but generally when going from a one-man operation to hiring employees, there is a lot of paperwork and possibly a full restructuring of the business. And THAT is going to take time that he could have used for further development of the game.
