End game is the religion tree. You need insane amounts of gold to progress it. You won't earn enough gold on pve due to gear being capped at purple. As a free player you also lose out on selling rare parts to players for inflated values.

So the casual experience is really just to see the core gameplay (which is quite good). However with nothing to do afterwords, I don't think there's any reason to return. Which is why I played this season and enjoyed it but will not be returning.

Iskandra's Elemental Exchange is just a buff, period.
Flat damage like the "x Elemental Damage," "Y Energy Leech per Second," or the randomized damage over time from Overload are applied to your weapon damage. Anything that does a % of your weapon damage will also deal that % of those effects.

All the other IEE related effects are global buffs - +Z% elemental damage, energy regen, Offensive Ability, crit damage, etc.

Maybe is like how combat normally works? From the time humans created a form to hit something from range, this is infinitelly superior than hit from close, except for some exceptional situations.
Is because of that that near all people in history created one form of ranged attack (slings, trowing spears, bows, crossbows). Is videogames that make we think that exist some balance in that.
