I just looked at something. If you want lv 4 kindling, you can make a breeding farm, then breed helzephyr + nitewing to get a jormuntide, helzephyr + gumoss or daedream to get a blazehowl and then the jormuntide and blazehowl to get jormuntide ignis. It might be big and quite hungry but it comes with lv 4 kindling. Around lv 30, these pals should be all catchable and you only need 3 breedings/cakes. There is a convenient quest at the end of the road coming from kingpaca's boss fight place that requires you to have a glutton/bottomless stomach pal and gives you exactly 3 cakes. They will spoil but if they are in the breeding ranch's chest, they don't spoil. Just make sure to use only 1 per breeding, you don't want to waste them (either wait for that one egg or make another breeding farm to keep the cakes and use only 1 in the ranch that does the breeding; guild storage chest is another option because food doesn't spoil in it). Lv 4 kindling will help you a lot with both cooking and making ingots.
