How to Really Understand and Fix Your Trust Factor

Hello everyone. About two months ago, I started seriously thinking about the Trust Factor system in CS. As you know, it’s almost impossible to fully understand how it actually works. Valve never reveals the exact criteria; they only confirm that the system tracks your behavior over the long term. But one thing we all know for sure: getting reported, kicked, or banned directly lowers your Trust Factor.

I couldn’t let this go, so I decided to investigate. Almost obsessively, I ran tests on four different accounts, comparing statistics and gameplay to see what really affects Trust Factor.

What Does NOT Affect Trust Factor

The following things do not directly increase or decrease your Trust Factor:

- Playing other games
- Being active on Steam
- Removing banned friends
- Avoiding toxic chat or swearing
- Kicking a teammate
- Reporting other players
- Buying games on Steam
- Receiving commendations
- Spamming or insulting in chat

Yes, none of these actions have any real impact on your Trust Factor.

What Actually Lowers Your Trust Factor

After months of testing, I realized that Trust Factor is heavily linked to how the anti-cheat system interprets your gameplay behavior. Even if you don’t cheat, certain playstyles can make you look suspicious to the system.

Gameplay & Shooting Patterns That Lower Trust Factor

- Constant pre-aim / prefire: Always holding crosshair on entry points and instantly shooting looks unnatural.
- High prefire and wallbang accuracy: Consistently successful wallbangs reduce Trust Factor.
- One-tap headshot ratios: Extremely high HS % (especially above 80%) is flagged as abnormal.
- Perfect spray control: Robotic spray patterns look suspicious.
- Unrealistic reaction times: Millisecond reactions every round are not human-like.
- Excessive flick shots: Constant flicking with high accuracy is cheat-like behavior.
- Static K/D ratios: Always having the same K/D looks unnatural.
- Low assists / no utility usage: Playing only for kills and ignoring teamplay reduces trust.
- Repetitive playstyle: Always playing the same spot or angle looks like a bot pattern.
- No voice communication: Never using mic marks you as less of a “team player.”

How to Improve Your Trust Factor

The answer is simple: do the opposite of everything listed above.

- Vary your gameplay and don’t always pre-aim the same spots.
- Keep your HS ratio within realistic ranges.
- Mix spray and tapping, avoid looking robotic.
- Show natural ups and downs in your performance.
- Use voice communication and contribute with utility.
- Play like a human, not like a script.

The more natural and human-like your stats and gameplay appear, the higher your Trust Factor will rise.

Important Note

Professional players are an exception. Since they usually play on Faceit, ESEA, or similar platforms, their stats and playstyles are not measured by the in-game Trust Factor system in the same way. Everything I’ve written here applies to regular matchmaking players, not pros.
