Just grind for better items to slay monsters in same location that get more health/damage

Wonder why someone didn't try something new since DIablo 2 basically all these games are same

PoE is even worse because it is like studying for disertation instead of playing
No, they are not even permitted to have an end game because "we didn't have them 200 years ago and things were better then." -Steam Forums.
If that's how you interpret the argument against a focus on endgame then you aren't truly listening to what we're saying.

Having an endgame is fine. Having endgame be the only game is not. Titan Quest, Diablo 2, and Grim Dawn are three ARPGs where the main endgame content is "grind loot to complete your build. Or make a new character to try a different build."

Diablo 2 has 5 classes (7 with LoD), to play through the campaign and its three difficulties before you had to replay a class.

Titan Quest has 8 Masteries (11 with expansions) that could combine into 28 unique Classes (55 with expansions.) to play through the campaign and its 3 difficulties before you had to replay a class.

Grim Dawn has 6 Masteries (9 with expansions, soon to be 10) which combine into 15 unique classes (36 with expansions, soon to be 45) to play through the campaign and its 3 difficulties before you had to replay a class.

But do you know how many people ask for a "campaign skip" in those games? A very tiny minority, because the campaign is well made and is made to be replayable as the games didn't focus heavily (or at all) on "you've finished the game, now grind for eternity!" and instead either offered challenges like Ubers or The Shattered Realm to test your build against or just had you play for fun until you wanted to start over.

Path of Exile, Diablo 3/4, Last Epoch are all games designed around forcing you to experience the campaign once per character before you can experience endgame and focused so heavily on the endless endgame that the campaign suffers for it. D3 fixed this by adding Adventure Mode so you never have to touch the campaign again after beating it once. D4 had something similar iirc? But both PoE and LE? Their campaigns are so bad, that people are begging the devs to allow them to skip it with some LE players offering to pay real money for a campaign skip option. The only replayability in these games comes from seasonal resets forcing you to start over with a FOMO gimmick to entice you in. Remove seasonal resets and stop the quarterly content drip and the games would be dead within a year. Meanwhile, Titan Quest, a nearly 20 year old game still has thousands of players daily and hasn't had a content update since 2021 (before that was 2017), do you think people would still be playing PoE in 4 years if it received no further content updates? What about Last Epoch?

This is what we mean when we say "don't emphasize endgame." Because having an enjoyable to repeat campaign with some endgame build testers and lots of build variety has far more longevity than a quarterly release rush to endgame through a campaign that no one can stand. Also, if you check the numbers, PoE numbers spike hard when a new season launches and then drop just as hard within a month and a half and for the remaining 1.5-2.5 months, it has fewer average players than Grim Dawn, which hasn't had a major content update since 2019 (new one in 2026).

So yeah, endgame isn't as important for a game like this and it's not as important in a live-service game as you think it is when it rarely holds players for more than a month
