RE "endgame content" - depends on your playertype. In general, playing the sandbox is an endless game - so there is no endgame per se like in other games. But if you have a lot of military to throw away you can trigger the Xenon crisis (personally I'm no fan of it, but the option is there). If you are a super trader / builder you can look at the various terraforming missions. The plots flowchart is a way for mission driven "endgame" (decide the relations of sub-factions to their main faction and cement those).

An update is being worked on. This is not 1.0 now.

My friend and I are playing right now and we've managed to get up to the mesa biome when the lighting turned green for both of us. We were getting close to the out of bounds in a cave when everything just turned green like we were looking through night vision goggles. Leaving the cave didn't help, and the sky turns black on my screen. No one else seems to be having this issue

Yeah had the same issue, changed the rendering scaling and everything turned green, was a bit more visible but still an horrible bug. my friend also had the same visual glitch (2 player coop)
