I hardly buy games on steam anymore, one game last winter sale and I loathe when I have to activate boxed games on Steam, making them useless if I ever wanted to leave the system.
Maybe I should just stop buying games here and buy the rest on GOG or something. I dunno, Steam just adds stuff that I cant opt out of or customize and the store page just feels bloated and just recommends stuff and I cant turn recommendations off and... Ugh.
Plus, my only instance of contacting support, when buying a boxed game from a huge retailer in Sweden, where I live, the code was in use. My brother bought the same game at the same time, same thing. Baffled I contacted steam support and they accused me of buying an pre-owned copy (it was brand new, shrink wrapped and all) and the support guys on my brothers end just fixed it no problem! I had to beg on my knees and really proclaim it loudly that it was a genuine purchase, receipt and all, links to the retailer and even showing them that they dont even carry used games. The answer I got was "We resetted it for you this time, but know in the future that we wont reset any used games for you in the future".
So yeah, I'm probably blacklisted by support with a comment noting how I bought a used copy, they refused to listen.
And this is like, the straw that broke the camels back for me. Everytime I try to justify that Steam isn't so bad, it turns to worse. And I really hate it, as much as I use it and as much as boxed games force me to use it.
A bit off topic yeah but, I do hope they remove this stuff, it just keeps adding up in a pile of things thats starting to spell out "steam sucks" for me.
I bought most of my games on Steam cause I liked the service.. which they keep ... well taking away from me.. unless I do as they say .. and bow down to the "smart phone" gods.. and what have you.
What is really bad about this entire situation.. I have likened games on here to "hostages"
Steam does as they like.. cause they know you either take it.. or *not* use the system all your games are tied to.
Sad thing about NOT buying games on steam.. if steam were to "go under" cause of people not buying.. well again... hostage games go with em. Cause we all know.. we do not own it.. we rent it from steams (lately TERRIBLE) service.
EDIT: Well, maybe that's a bit of an exadderation. They made PC gaming worse.

Want another laugh? The authenticator still appears to be doing authentication codes for my secondary account; I would assume because I didn't remove it through the authenticator itself. I didn't remove it through the authenticator from the secondary account because I was worried it was going to put a 7-day trade ban on my primary account also & after what it did to the cards on my secondary account, I'm not even going to attempt it until the pending trades I currently have going are done with.
Any information they do reveal is 100% based on people who do have it, because they're forced to use it. They aren't using this 'miraculous' security measure by choice, it's like saying 100% of people breathe air because they have to, not because they choose to.
EDIT: Interestingly enough, no 7-day trade ban like I was expected, given when I added the authenticator, there was a 7-day trade ban (and I understand this was the case when people first turned on Steam Guard via email notifications after that change went into effect). Either that stipulation doesn't count when you downgrade security of your account or it may have been removed...
I know it's for inventory purposes and + to avoid the super profit in market , but Hey! 1-2 weeks is too much !!! 3-5 days is fine!!
If can somebody just explain it to me please.. TIA , but why would i wait 2 weeks just for some cards / cheap / trashy trades??
As someone who don't have a phone, I feel that, that I'm discriminated versus people who really have a phone. Is like that they have put me on a "black list" with less features just for not having a phone. And that's feeling really bad.
