Its not only abut the Auf, but also abut confirming trades, that is why it need an app and not just SMS or using other Auf app
And wait 3 days
Yeah, that's not a valid reason. As stated other companies can do just fine with SMS if they need a freakin' phone in the first place.
Makes me feel much better than paying apple $10+ a month just cause Valve said so, and have an iPhone-shaped paperweight.
The systems you refer to don't deal with the volume of SMS steam trading would require. Daily.
You're escalating a system to delivery two SMS to every trade happening on Steam.
Also, SMS codes are vulnerable to MitM attacks. The trade verification is not.
I'm sure you have heard the reasons why you need to do this to trade instantly so won't post them.
My point was that you don't need a phone for the app, you can run the app on anything that runs android (more than phones) and just add the number of your non-apple non-android phone that can recieve SMS and you are done.
Secondly android devices has more uses, I'm sure one of the many might interest you. http://www.computerworld.com/article/2487680/smartphones/smartphones-18-great-uses-for-an-old-android-device.html Some of these are not for new devices but you get the picture.
Just to be clear, they won't change this so figure out how much money and time you want to spend to trade instatly. If the answer is $0 then fine, get used to the trade hold.
I'm just trying to clear the misconception that you need to be a smartphone user and have to stop whatever phone solution you have now because this is not true. It doesn't have to cost you the price of a new iphone for you to be able to trade instantly and you don't need a google account either and you can keep using your old phone.
Could people just already understand that the crapp really runs just fine in any of the Android emulators for PC and stop talking about irrelevant cost of useless phones? I spent 0€ total to get the crapp working and so can everyone else. You don't even need a phone at all as you can use any of the free SMS receiving services online.
This is why separate hardware is what valve wanted and a bit safer if you can afford it.
I'm sure you can somehow, but it's of no interest to me. I want less hassle for simple card trades, not more, which is why I don't want to use my tablet for it either. And my PC is already much more secure than any phone.
People should also stop calling the phone more secure since it's separate hardware, when it's much less secure 1FA. Sure if you trade on PC you need to do extra hassle of confirming it on the phone. But why would they do that when they can just get malware on the phone much easier and require no other device at all.
