This "{LINK REMOVED - Please don't spam, and be wary of scams.}" message.
I belong to a group specifically for advertising our personal video game streams. Every time I've attempted to post mine, I get that message, and yet EVERYONE ELSE in that group is able to post theirs just fine. What gives?

Yeah. Anytime I try to post a link to my stream it gets replaced with that and I have no idea why.
ianskate Sep 19, 2013 @ 11:42pm
What kind of site are you trying to link to? That's the message delivered when a URL is filtered due to being used for referral advertising or scamming.
Felix Sep 20, 2013 @ 5:30am
Are you using a URL shortener to post the links, because I know some of those are blocked by the filter (for obvious reasons!)?

I am not using a shortener. Google "Realm of the Bearded Beard" and you'll see the link. I'm using a free web service host so it's simply (username.(host).com/stream which is why I'm so confused as to why it'd block it.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

It's annoying because everyone is posting their twitch.tv links fine and I'm all like "BUT THAT'S NOT THE MAIN SITE FOR ME"

I tried it again and it was filtered. I'll still ask about it.

No promises though.

Your 'free' site is also a notorious spam destination unfortunatly (being free) that's why it's filtered. Many scammers use it to rediret people for FREE GAMEZ!! MOAR STEAM MONEZ!! etc.

You should really pony up for some actual hosting if you're serious about it. Using free services like that has significant disadvantages, auto-filtering being one of them.

Seems like webs.com and subdomain.webs.com is filtered.
Rather than posting link to your website with embedded stream link directly to your stream and it wont get filtered.

As for the word filter itself.. Whole steamcommunity.com domain uses word filter including these discussions and all profile pages, group pages and group discussions.

I have submitted question about that (different domain name, URL shortener) to Steam Support myself at 16th Aug 2013 and I got reply that the ticket got transferred to someone else at 4th Sep 2013 but no reply after that and the ticket seems to be closed right now (not closed by me).

Yep, web.com sites is filtered.

Most likely due to what Satoru has said.

Well, crap. If I HAD any money I totally would, but I have no income. :( I suppose I'll just have to use the stream site directly and then redirect in the chat there...
or use twitch and livestream :\

We DO. Use both, actually.

It's just that my homemade website incorporates its own chat so it's easier to keep track.

Yeah what's going on. I have 2 links to my webpages I made and the rest are Steam Community links (mostly friends)

Hate to bump an old thread, but yeah. Seriously. Two months ago they took down my 4chan.org links, which were to /v/ and /b/ respectively. (Understandable, to an extent, but for the most part forum links shouldn't be a problem.. OH WOW they censor 4 chan now.)

Now suddenly they're taking down all links, no matter the domain is? What the ♥♥♥♥.
