How is console gaming less expensive overall?
The age old argument was always that console gaming is much more affordable, and while the hardware is less expensive, everything else has become a ripoff.

You have to pay 60 bucks yearly just to play online.

GTA V was sold on 3 different console generation for full price.

The Last of Us was sold on 3 different console generation for full price.

The Last of Us Part 2 was also sold for full price first on PS4, than on PS5.

Until Dawn was sold on PS4, and now on PS5 for full price.

God of War 3 was sold on both PS3 and PS4.

Skyrim was sold on 3 different console generations.

Tomb Raider (2013) was sold on PS3/360, and just a year later on PS4/Xbox One for full price.

Resident Evil 4 was sold on Gamecube, than PS2, than on the Wii, than on PS3/360, than on
PS4/Xbox One.

The list goes on and on.

Meanwhile on PC you have regular discounts on Steam and GOG, and free games on Epic.

Consoles themselves are cheaper, the games are cheaper on pc though

Not true. PC no longer gets the deep summer and winter flash sales we used to get. Additionally, physical games go down in price over time, but Digital Prices don't automatically decline. I can buy a physical console game new for $20 after a few years, and that same game is still $60 on Steam.

Game bundles, prime gaming giving away epic and gog games, epic giving away free games constantly, not to mention things like game jolt and itch.io
It will not be cheaper when the new Tariff laws go into effect. The prices will be increased.

Not everyone is American

At least 80% is though. And also the most important people when it comes down to income for Valve.

US market accounts for around 30-40% of Steam's global revenue. The rest comes from non-US countries. Source is a bit dated, but market shares don't usually shift much over the years (And it's been a while since a large market like China is added to Steam to shift the numbers significantly)

USA is still #1 in both. US gamers make up the single largest group of users, about 1/3rd of the users on Steam are from the USA, and 50% or more of all of the revenue generated on STEAM comes from US publishers.

Only European gamers surpass US gamers, and that is only if you combine all European countries into a single group. However, combining them into a single group like this makes no sense when you consider how specific outliers such as Germany have their own specific rules being forced and such.

Doesn't matter.

The claim was about Americans being the most and therefore "the most important people" for Valve to consider.

That's not how it works at all. They got to cater for everyone.
it was cheaper then a pc and the controls didnt auto break thanks to cheap parts like joy stick drift they know exactly what kind of material to use to make sure it doesnt happen but currently its their best cash cow so they made sure it breaks like it does.

it was 300 for a console vs 300 for just a grpahics card and the graphics actually werent that diffrent.

now you might as well just buy a pc. they arent that much more epensive last close to 10 years if you build it properly and you dont have to pay for xbox live and psn.

Nope.

Again, while you are correct in saying that the current generation is bloody awful and has closed that gap, you still can't get round the elephant in the room - USED GAMES.

If you buy more than a few that starts to add up. If you're like me who buys about 300 games a year across all platforms, you can easily see how much I save. Enough to buy many more PCs or consoles should I want to.

Consoles also have sales, and, as several people have repeatedly pointed out, consoles have a used game market.

I bought Death-loop shortly after release for 22 Euros from a used game site while PC gamers were still paying full price
