Solo gaming vs playing with friends discussion
What do you guys prefer? Mainly solo, playing co-op games with friends, or a mixture of both? (I have a friend who my group of friends known him for years, but that friend is mostly a solo gamer.. even if hes playing games like payday 2, planetside 2, multiplayer games, he usually does it solo with other people online, more than a group of friends in his lobby. Sometimes he plays with us but we always have to ask him to play first, since he never invites us. Now we arent mean to him at all, but even after my cousin said its more fun to play with friends. My friend didnt use to be like this.. back in the day he kept saying to me to find more co-op games to play, nowadays it feels like he is in isolation playing solo, whether it is a single player game, or co-op game.

Solo, I hardly ever play with friends, which I semi-regret.

A tip though: don't bump threads, pretty sure the mods don't like that.

Depends on the game.TF2 can be pretty fun with a server full of your friends.Payday is fun to play through.Same with Counter-Strike....
and that's about it.

I'm like your friend I guess. I prefer single player games or if I'm playing online I prefer to be alone. I try to avoid competitive, coop (except with my brother) and games that force me to play with others everytime (raids or whatever). My parents play MMO and it's the same, I prefer to play alone anyway. I can play how I want and at my own pace if I'm alone.
I don't invite anyone to parties either, in MH2015 sometimes I'm in occasional parties but I never invited or talked with someone in this game. This game don't push me to play with others, I can alone so yeah, great for me.
I've played Planetside 2 and I couldn't play more than 1h. I have Payday 1 because they gifted it but I don't think I would play it with someone else.
The thing is... when I was a child I was always playing games with my brother, in fact, all the games were coop games and these kind of things but I've stopped to do it. It's not like something related to my brother or anything, but I don't enjoy playing games with others anymore. Just sometimes with my brother, but he is usually busy. >_>

I tend to be annoyed while playing with others so yeah, I prefer to be alone. And sometimes there's some guys that say to me "hey, do you wanna play X game?" (mostly it's: I'M playing the game while your lvling doing nothing >_> but well, they're acquaintances of my parents so I can't say much or avoid them) and I feel annoyed anyway.
As I've said, I don't have any problem playing games with my brother or parents but I prefer to play alone though.
Same about chatting with others in private chats and all, I prefer to leave a comment in forums than talking personally with someone.

I prefer all, except for multiplayer when my internet connection is crap, like it is now. Nobody wants to be the lag-a-porting guy who drags down everyone else's experience. Unless they're griefers, the scum of the Earth.

If I had to pick one, though, it would be LAN, multiplayer, big team battles, preferably with a lot of awesome military hardware, and some good friends who know how to operate as a unit. BF2142 or something like that, preferably with my brothers or some Marines.

interesting posts.. yea my friend is like on and off with competitive play nowdays if he plays alone, but i think he tends to stray away from it now, since he did lots of online fps back in middle school, high school
I love solo games with great stories and lots of open world stuff to do. Especially if I just want to sit back and escape the real world for a while. Kind of like binge watching a favorite movie or TV series.

Co-op I love when it is "in person" co-op, either split screen or LAN party style, especially when booze gets involved. Woot! Those are some seriously fun times!

PvP Hell no! Even the best of friends get pizzed at eachother when it comes to Versus stuff or you find out about that one friend that takes competition WAYYYYYY too seriously, and that is never fun.

Depends on my mood. And on the game. And on the people. Some games are better played with others. Games with lots of focus on story or ambiance are better not played with other (unknown) humans because people tend to spoil story and ruin ambiance. Just start up some MMORPG and watch the chats there. I don't want to know if some nuthead is drunk while I try to drive off an invasion of dragons. Or if he has a boner. Or see him flirt with a female character who in truth is probably a fifty-years old stinking pedophile living in his mother's basement. Or whatever.

I don't usually play ARPGs like Diablo or 3D-equivalents like Borderlands or Warframe with others either because people tend to rush these games like stupid. No time for nothing in them. Way to spoil my experience.

PvP games I used to play a lot. Not so much anymore. They can be frustrating if people don't care for fairplay or if design imbalances put you in a disadvantage. They still hold some points though. Fighting against humans is always unique and different. You can play the same map in the same game a million times and it may still be fun just because you don't know for sure what you will get. Co-op or singleplayer games on the other hand get repetitive and boring more quickly. PvP games seem to sell the longest and best - combined with mictrotransactions (as is often the case in F2P games) makes for the most attractive of what a publisher can do if it's all about the money.

this.

Other than that, KF is fun with randoms, L4D is fun with friends, and Saints Row the third in coop with my friend was one of the funniest gaming experience I had in a long time.

Idk about your friend, maybe he prefers to play alone with you and not the rest of your friends or certain people? I also barely send invites when gaming, except to my closest friends.

I like playing alone, because I'm a control freak. I'll take too long fiddling with menus, crafting, inventory, wanting to explore, not caring about leveling/winning quickly etc. to play with other people very often. Although it does depend on the game a bit, of course. But I'm like that whether it's Baldur's Gate or Diablo or a RTS.

So...I played WoW solo. I played Diablo3 solo. I play 7 Days to Die solo. etc. I prefer single-player games so it makes me sad they're less and less common. :)

My husband and I will play games LAN together sometimes and have lots of fun...but that's because we're very in tune with each other etc. Strangers on the 'net...I don't usually have the patience.

Solo or co-op with my wife.

Most my friends are off work at the same time my son gets out of school. He has prirority. When he is older, then I may play more co-op games as he can play them with me. A home grown, gaming buddy. :-P

My preferance is for solo as I enjoy the stories involved and can go at my own speed.

Totaly depends on my mood! But with friends :)

Good replies, I also noticed he plays more PVE games than PVP nowadays as well, although if he does do a pvp one he will usually stomp ppl [especially if its an fps, or just button mashing a fighting game XD]

Mostly solo. I hate when i am forced to socialize by games, this includes MMOs and such.

I play PUG in most of the games, simply because i do not care to make my entertainment dependent on other people and their schedule. Likewise i want to be able to just exit a game when i feel like it.

Playing with friends comes with the expectation to actually finish the game, and while there are some games i would like to play with other people, the actual desire to play with other people is rather rare for me.

And yes, playing games in co-op is more fun, as everything is more fun with friends. So its not like i don't understand it. I just don't care for the responsibility that comes along with it. Such as having to have time, having to need to play start to finish and everything. Its just a drag to think about. But as with going out (i am the same about that) once i am out, i am actually having a blast, but when i am thinking of going out, it seems such a nuisance.

Co-op gaming with friends is the same. I enjoy it when i do it, but i have to make appointments for it, or i'll never do it, because its such a drag.
