Extremely rare emoticon??
How come this :pcrace: sells for so damn much on the market? Also people are cheap as hell! It's starting at $7.44 for sales and people want to buy at $2.50 or lower. There's only 3 listings and I would be a fourth (but not gonna do it). Is this emoticon extremely rare or what?
What do u guys think?
(please no hate)

Yeah that one has like 90+ on sale though, mine has 3 only xD

Well $2.50 is what people are willing to pay. And I guess when there is such a small number of something on the market the sell price can be distorted because the seller isn't aware of how much people will pay for it.

Way to be a negative nancy Downdrop, don't think that was the point of the discussion. Digital or not if it is given a monetary value then it has real world value.

Digital items have no value. There is an infinite number available, there is virtually 0 overhead, and no materials were used in it's creation.

EDIT (for clarification) -> Digital items, such as a video game, that took programmers to make, have a value because of the cost involved in the game's creation. The publishers have to pay their employees in order to work.

Again tell me how it has value, other then from those individuals who *think* it does and are willing to pay for it?
That is exactly what value is, what people are willing to pay for something.
Not saying I think digital content is a good thing but it still has a value.

You never said real world value in the first place, you just said value. Plus you can convert steam money into real money, you obviously lose money but you still can convert it. Simply buy a gift copy of a game, sell it to someone for real money.

Might not be that hard. We get 'toy money' each week at work that we can spend on stuff from work, and most people just let it build up, and then if one of our mates wants a new phone or camera or something, one of us will get it on toy money and get a fair amount of it back in cash from the person that wants the item cheaper.

Personally, I wouldn't even pay a penny for it. I could make that icon in 10 minutes in MS Paint. I will never understand why people pay for digital goods that have no real world value, that took a single person very minimal effort to make and very little time. In fact I find it disturbing that almost every game now adays is trying to greedily push expensive digital content on people.

In the digital world, nothing is "rare" - it is code that can be infinitely duplicated at whim by the creator. And often enough, it does not even require the creator for others to duplicate it completely for free.

I totally agree with your posts. I find it absurd that people spend so much real cash on things like this, that are nothing but a bunch of pixels. Thus the very idea of the OP, that of "rare pixels" is patently absurd because yes, there is nothing preventing them from duplicating them infinitely if they wish to do so. They could grant every account a full set of every icon existing on Steam tomorrow and it would cost them nothing but the time it took to enter the commands (and the pay for the employee who did it if you wish to be picky, lol.)

I laughed when I found out they had "foil virtual cards" on here. It's insane enough to collect real life card sets which ultimately are nothing but small pieces of cardboard, but at least those aren't able to be infinitely reporduced, can be held in your hand, used to build a card house, used as kindling or stuck in the spokes of a bicycle to make it click. ;)

Hi steamers, I've 2 questions about emoticons that I've in my possession :

- why this one is listed at +110€ on the market => :gsdr_ready:
- why this other one isn't listed on the market? (it seems a bit buggy) => :gsdr_gottarun:

Thx :)

I think I'm the only one on Steam (that I know of) with this one.

:safe:

I searched some very large inventories and couldn't find it.

Ha, what a waste of money. People buying emoticons, yet never use them in comments.

Collecting purposes, same with people who collect games and any other stuff.

Go to the Undertale Page
cards cost: .50 cents or more a piece(common)
Papyrus background went up for more than 12 dollars(that's more than the game itself).

Steam cards/emotes/backgrounds are soely based on some factors

A. Some popular image
(In this case it'd be the PC master race emote and Undertale)

B.Anime
(this is just a general rule of thumb to go after these backgrounds emotes ASAP and sell them for a high price. Did it for a VN and made like 20$)
