Finding an arcade game
Does anyone remember the games that used to be in like 90s pizza huts or ice cream shoppes? I vaguely recall one that was Castlevania-esque but don't know the name to search for it.

Side scroller, had power ups, I think you had a whip attack.

Nice, hopefully that's the one OP was referring to, as it's even on sale right now

Well technically it is the revised version with QOL improvements and to work on modern pc's.

Usually not a bad thing, unless you're the purist type. If that's the case, at least they have the name of the game, and could look to buy an old arcade machine.

Or get yourself something like a Retroarch setup.

I have a cabinet set up that way, and it's great. One of the best decisions I ever made.
Haunted Castle looks very interesting and I want to play it for other reasons, but I don't think it's the one that I'm vaguely remembering, sorry.
I did more digging, I though it might have been a Rygar or Rastan but I think it was more similar to Black Tiger. I'm still looking.
Are you sure it wasn't a Castlevania game? A lot of them have whips

Ah rastan does use a whip in it. There was a indie game awhile ago that was like a spirited succesor to Rastan, but i forgot it's name.

UPDATE: I did find a couple indie games like it:

You may want to check them out.

NOTE: The name of the main character is called Simon Quest. LOL.
