why is buying games on day 1 so bad?
like they are always so broken, so buggy, crashing and run so bad.

i think they even give a copy to gpu devs to make it run better but it changes nothing.

i am not toxic but i always wait for a sale for this reason cause any game even elden ring was so broken on day 1.

i rather wait for the sale cause then the game is 1. balenced 2. finished and polished and 3. cheaper.

the only time i will buy a day 1 game is prob a indie game but man its really sad to see even indie games fail on day 1 sometimes but it happens.

You can't buy them on day one. I think most saavy gamers know that. I guess with games that generally don't change, like copy paste sports games they may do it, or COD, but don't make sense anymore in this day and age imo.
Spider-Man 2 is a wreck, yes but the devs are on it and even replying to support threads.

:nkCool:

it's crazy i bought spider man 2 and while i was downloading people were crying and saying the game ran bad and crashing and so i canceled and refunded.

it shocking since these a actually high tier devs so for them to release the game in a broken state is a red flag for me
They can have bugs. For example when Cyberpunk 2077 came out, it was a buggy mess. Also, when No Mans Sky came out, it also was a buggy mess. Wait until they get fixed with patches. This is why i wait years for certain games, and that they go on sale for cheaper.

It is not their issue, it is the problem that everyone's pc is different. They are not the same. Everyone has a different ram, different GPU, different CPU. Im not a coding expert, but do you know how hard it is to make a game work for every system? It would take forever to do that. Maybe when AI start getting better, it will save time programming in games.

A comparision would be like trying to play a SNES game on a Nintendo Switch. Sure, there is a way to do it with nintendo switch online, but the actually cartridge is not able to physically used on the switch. My pc for example is not the same as yours OP.

I know what to expect with day 1 releases, so it doesn't phase me if i pre order and/or day 1 brings issues.
It's also a waste of money. Most games end up having discounts in some months.

or years if you can wait. I once got a square enix game at 80 % off waiting for it.
It's so bad because over the last 2 decades the consumer has taught these companies through their actions that that doing so will not negatively impact their revenue stream.

And lets be Honest this only affects A - AAA games.
games from mid studios to indies release solid games on day one.

Yep., just use Sea of Stars as a example. It worked fine, but the indie developers are still improving it to this day even.

Exactly how many triple A games do they improve after 3 years of being out? Other than No Mans Sky or Cyberpunk 2077, not many. I mean there are exceptions, like those and Baldur's Gate 3.

Doom.
But yeah. And it does make sense. An indie isn't paying a staff of 30+ professionals every month.

Investors are kinda the problem. Once a studio or a publisher is behoplden to public investors they have to make good on growth and stuff.

anything thats fre 80%off or cheap bundle club over here.
havent used a single $ on steam in over a year
Simple - digital distribution and greedy publishers and devs caused this.

Back in the days when physical was the primary (or only) media, it meant that you had to get it right on release, because the ability to patch wasn't there easily, or it was cost prohibitive.

For example, go and look at any full catalogue list for any console. You'll see all the games, but one or two get listed more than once and have slightly different catalogue numbers. Like Ocarina of Time has three different versions. These are updated versions that had slight problems that were considered enough to bother to update a new cart.

You'll see that there are very much the exception though because of this.

But when digital distribution held more and more sway of course the more money hungry and anti-consumer devs and publishers kicked the can down the road furhter and further and the "release it now and patch it later" mentality was truly born.

Gaming history is fun. Because you can learn about things, and it's shame the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ indistry doesn't.
These days I just wait a few months after release and then it's not only discounted but also been patched and fixed.

I just think of "pre order" as a stupid tax.

A fair assessment.

As I said, I've always waited anyway as I'm a cheapskate. But it's even more poignant now, I'd say essential.

You're a mug if you trust ANY triple A company especailly to turn out anything working on day1 these days.
