Mindless PvE games also help soothe my indecisiveness, picking something stimulating while I make up my mind.
Seriously, don't try to force yourself into it. Doesn't work and will make you resent it in the long run.
it is also very possible that you are as you say, burned out. might just be a phase where you are a little tired of video games. thats okay, just keep yourself busy with other things in the time being.
According to your profile you still play 3.5 hours each day. If you only feel good for 30 minutes while playing games, then i think you might have symptoms of a beginning gaming addiction, because you are forcing yourself to play for another 3 hours, even though you are not enjoying your time.
I would try and test how you feel 7 days without playing any games. And if it happens to be very easy for you, then its still a double win, because you will come back with a refreshed mind.
This helps keep your gaming experience interesting.
Do a puzzle in real life. You can get them in most drug stores, or if you have a hobby lobby near your house, you can buy some there. Even five below sells puzzles. I recently bought a penuts puzzle from them for 3 dollars.
And? The only person responsible for managing your burnout is you.
There's basically two approaches I recommend.
(1) You're generally burned out on a type of game or have been doing a certain routine for too long. In this case, go play something else quite disparate from what you usually do. I tend to avoid this these days but having a couple of "warm up" games like old arcade games to get me into it.
If you are instead more put off with ALL games, then it's a good idea to just do something else. I have a few hobbies, like making or producing music, electronics, astronomy and so on. I will go away and drop gaming until I feel like it again. Could be a few hours, could be a few weeks. But once I feel like retruning, it makes it all the better.
(2) You're in a rut more generally. This is especially poignant if you're tired or run down, maybe a little depressed even. If you've been doing the same old routine like going to work or school, coming home, doing the same thing, then sitting down and by force of habit jumping into the same old game(s), then this may be your problem.
In which case, I recommend getting moving. Go out, walk round the block, run a bit, do something a bit physical. Getting your endorphins going from just a few days of jogging round the block can make a world of difference at getting your brain working again.
Although Elite Dangerous had me hooked for a while but im taking a break after doing a big grind of exploration data.
