All I was doing was exlpaining FACT.
They can't ban for it the same reason they can't ban for single player games cheats.
Also in all the years SAM has been around (I've been here over ten years) it has NEVER once had a single case of anyone getting banned or action because of it. There were cases where the devs behind Payday 2 did some actions because of acheievement cheating but it QUICKLY stopped and it most likely was due to realisizng they'd be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ legally.
The evidence is quite clear on this.
EVERYTHING is a risk, but this is how it is. I'll always present fact and evidence how it is because it helsp everyne.
This part I didn't said it is a risk in the first place. It mean possibly.
This is unrelated to the op, but that is still true for VAC protected and modified restriction files.
No it's very much not what you said. You said it's as safe as buying a game on Steam. It's not. Period.
You can get banned for it. Two studios did so. Period.
It was not "QUICKLY stopped" and it was not stopped for "legal reasons". Yes, we have been over it many times. You utterly fail to acknowledge that it was going on for years in both games and they only stopped because it became unfeasible vetting the community. Quite a feat for someone who claims they want to fight myths on the forum.
And the ridiculousness of actually acknowledging that people DID get banned for using it while stating we have no evidence that people did got banned over using it ... Like do you even know what you are writing yourself?
There is absolutely no legal repercussion for a studio to ban you from the game either. Dead By Daylight had modifying achievement data - including resetting them - even in their TOS. If you are breaking the terms of the license, your license gets revoked. Sure as eggs is eggs. Cut and dried contract law.
It also DOES affect other people. Another fact you utterly fail to acknowledge. We have been over this many times as well. You because you lack the empathy or understanding of how it possible can doesn't mean it doesn't do.
Here is the short version: people waste their life going after achievements that clearly show someone has unlocked but are infact broken and unobtainable. Some might get angry about not having it unlock on them. How is this any different from someone playing against a cheater in MP? Or cheating the leaderboards. It isn't. Both derive you of joy and a sense of accomplishment.
BTW I have never seen anybody getting banned over cheating on leaderboards either. Do you claim that's perfectly fine with Valve and anybody should just do it if they can't get into the top 100 by their own merits?
Well that's not what I said is it? Since when are studios cheating in games? If you're talking achievement spamming games that's not even remotely the asme things. I'd like to see evidence that this claim matches please.
Also again it IS as safe as buying a game on Steam.
Again unless you present evidence this has not happened apart from that weird expample which Payday 2 devs had to qwuickly revert from.
The fact remains that on these forums over ten years there hasn't been a single case.
But if I'm wrong have at your evidence.
I HAVE seen people banned from leaderboard for cheating on leeaderboards.
THe point to remember here is that the way this works is that you can only ban for the thing specific to your action. You CANNOT ban your acces from a game for instance for acheievement cheating. You'd get banned from WHAT you cheated in.
So people do get bnanned from leaderboard cheats.
I've seen it happen in Dungeon Defenders, Zombie Driver, and a fair few other games I've noticed.
My claims stand until you provide better evidence. That's just how reality works.
Apart from that small issue where some people got actioned by Starbreeze for Payday 2 achievement cheating, it was qwuickly reversed, and there have been ZERO other instances of ANY game devs doing anything like this in over 10 years of me being here. In fact since achievments began on games here.
Zero. You get that? That's quite a pretty straighforward point.
I have no issue with the way you write. I have issue with the fact you don't understand things, admit that then still disagree which is a logical fallacy.
That's the problem here. YOu admit you don't understand.
But then you make stuff up - like me not understanding you. That just isn't true.
I only have one problem here - that if you make a claim you need to provide evidence for it. And when I provide evidence for a claim, you don't get to go "nah" and just leave it at that. If you disagree you provide BETTER evidence to counter it.
This is just how reality works.
Which doesn't make it right. Evidence is the only thing that prove this, That's what you can't escpae.
I provided evidence for my claims. You just chose to ignore it.
Have you even reread my first comment? This is where you called me out even if I'm correct. That is my issue with your. You just want perfect answers from me which I can't give you.
So you want evidence but also refuse to provide evidence? At this points should just lock this cluster.
