Report a translation problem
There's no scaling with the actual profile area, and some backgrounds are designed to work around the profile area at the current scale.
This means if they scaled backgrounds different sizes, some of them would look bad and mis-alligned with the profile. On the other hand they could scale parts of the profile down but that would then look strange, and probably be a lot of work to get right. In this case it's just simpler to keep everything one size.
The things you pointed out are very true tho.
