That's the standard punishment for committing fraud on Steam, even if you did it by accident.

Lots of people think Steam "took" money from them, when what really happened was, a purchase failed and the money remained on hold with Paypal or their bank. They see money missing and automatically assume "Steam stole it" or something.

Also sometimes people try to scam Steam by buying something and then doing a chargeback, to get free games. As far as they know, you're doing it on purpose.

You're being banned for ussiung a chargeback with PayPal. This is often a sign of credit card fraud and this is a serious topic. You should have issued a refund request through Steam.

Steam do NOT double charge users. Why didn't you just check your account transaction history before doing a fraudulent chargeback? It's most likely your initial transaction failed but the money was removed from your account; put on hold by your payement provider to be returned to your payment method in up to 10 days. There was absolutely no need to do a chargeback.

Ironically; you now owe Steam $100 and your account suspension could become permanent if you don't pay up within the 93day/9 week window.

And if they did, you have to take it to support (they are much faster for billing problems), so they can issue a refund/cancel the charge themselves and - most important - know about the issue insteaad of just receiving a chargeback not without content.

I was charged twice

Looking at my credit card statement, it appears that I was charged twice for my order.
-----
If you did not receive a receipt and an order number via e-mail, then we did not charge you and will not be charging you or accepting any funds from your credit card company.

It is possible that your bank is holding the funds until they confirm that we are not going to accept any payment for the failed order(s). Typically the banks will hold these funds for 7-10 business days. You will need to speak to the bank directly if you would like those funds released.

Before you try the purchase again, please confirm that your billing address, the expiration date and your CVV2 (the 3 digit security code on the back of the card) are all being entered exactly as they appear on the card and your billing statement. If this information is entered incorrectly then there is a possibility that the card will be denied by our system again.
