Why are online gaming communities so toxic?
Before you say anything, I have this to say. I'm not a terrible player, but I'm not a gaming elitist in any way, I'm simply a friendly player that plays offline or online games and tries to make a fun and enjoyable experience out of any game.

But every time I join in a online multiplayer game, it can quickly turn into a dreadful experience because of one single thing. No, it's not the graphics or gameplay..... It's the people that play them.... It seems that in online gaming communities there's always a large percentage of people that play to win no matter what, they'll get angry and barbarically insult anyone that isn't as good as them, or they just want to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s online because they know that if they try to pull off that kind of stunt in front of another gamer that involves insulting them to no end, they know they're going to get their teeth kicked in and end up with a black eye.

What happened to the respect people used to have for other gamers while they competed in a multiplayer match back in the time where you had to physically sit alongside your opponents and them alongside you in order to play a multiplayer match.

Have any of you people encountered these types of issues in which some multiplayer games are turned into terrible experiences by the game's own fan base?

It's the internet...?

Welcome to being able to say/do things you wouldn't normally do because you have the safety of the internet between you and the other person.

It's always been that way since online gaming existed.

Because it's the only thing these socially awkwards monkeys can be good at, so they over compensate to the nth degree. Gaming is ment to be just for fun, then these immature arsehats come along thinking they gotta prove themselves by being an obnoxious, unlikable, ♥♥♥♥.

+1, internet allows anonymity between people, and therefore you can act how you see fit. I do my fair share of bashing on /b/ just like anyone else.

I think it makes games more interesting, you have the jerks and when you finally get to the nice folk it's a great relief.

Yes, that is the main reason I mostly play SP and on very rare occasions play MP, there is some very nice people out there, but the "screaming kids" are the most, unfortunately.

💝💝ErickaUnlimited💝💝 and Metal Scourge hit the nail pretty accurate imho.

Yeah, a game is meant to entertain you, not give you more stress than the stress you already had before playing the game.

Yeah, it's rare to find friendly players in multiplayer games.

Yup, why even bother playing multiplayer games if you know that the community is way too aggressive for dumb reasons.

you can do multiple quotations in one comment, when you don't, it gives us tons of notifications and is usually annoying to people.
