Uninstalling Steam took 45 Minutes.
Recently I needed to uninstall and then re-install Steam. Why in the hell does it take OVER 45 Minutes to uninstall Steam? WTF! Rhetorical question.

Did you uninstall everything before uninstalling Steam or...no?
If not then it could take sometimes longer.
Yes Rhetorical but its rather understandable if you didnt uninstall everything else first.

Steam's uninstall will also remove all games in the main library folder, embedded within the Steam root. So if you have a couple TB of games with tons of small files, yeah, it will take a while.

I found out that uninstalling steam will uninstall games also. It was a new experience for me waiting some hours.

So did you want to delete including local screenshots, and games installed? Because that what happens when you uninstall Steam, and if it takes a long time, then same to assume you either have a ton of stuff installed, or your drive is really slow for odd reason.

The best way to reinstall steam is to delete everything from the folder but the Steamapps (you can save userdata or anything else you wanna keep as well)folder and the exe. The exe is essentially an updater and will download everything else.

for real just Delete the steam folder, even the steam apps if you want to redownload the games, bam poof gone in 10 seconds, you can then reinstall steam, and uninstall it again to remove the system registration tags. however i am not sure that steam will actually remove registration files you might have to manually remove all game reg files.

The length of time it takes is dependet upon WHAT you are deleting.

So if you have a number of games, screenshots and other stuff OF COURSE it's going to take this long. Not only that but it dpeends on other factors too like the speed and quality of your hard drive, I/O et al.
