the "switch" was only an issue if it was done via a few older EA games or 3rd party controlled EA games. it could happen on those that people got "stuck with Origin" and had to manually handle a few things.
Origin had to go eventually, the branding was just trash from the get-go but nobody could have really seen it coming that OriginPC would be a relevant brand ... which was one reason for the rebranding. not because of much legal battle but just imagine working at either and constantly receiving help requests for the other because humans ...
besides this, Origin is not really gone. the 4 macos user still have to use Origin as there will be probably no update there and some day it will cease to function on mac.
