I havent noticed it myself
then again I dont like weirdass links to my friends in general, let alone those hurrduurr imaa so funneh posting memes all day ones
If safe sites/links is censored, it could be a fault, then talk to a moderator and let them have a look at the links, if they are safe they might remove them from the filter.
There is nothing illigal in filtering/blocking content, Valve can do what ever they want.
Again, it's screwing with my IMs and I already have complete and total control over my account and security. I'm not stupid enough to wade around the abyss with nothing but Windows XP and Internet Explorer.
That said, I noticed it filtering even half the imgur links I put out because of strings happen to appear in the image name. Seriously, cut that out.
Supporting censors is fine if it is just catching phishing sites, but this is "It's not allowed because mommy said so"
Even if you could mod the steamclient, that is a very bad decission, it is against the SSA to tamper with the client in any way.
If we filter an entire domain it's because it was abused A LOT and most likely by scammers.
Also, as a direct result of this, everyone is harassing me to abandon Steam for Discord. This was the main reason I didn't like this happening, and I still want a way to opt out of the linkfilter. If it's now turning into a tool to drive people AWAY from Steam, it might be too far.
There's nothing at all "wrong" with asking Steam to change its policy, but it isn't obligated to do so nor is it doing anything illegal, that I'm aware of, if it declines to do so. Perhaps you can find something in all this that violates a law somewhere. I dunno. My unsolicited advice would be to cease using the platform if their policy in this area "offends" you that much, assuming you're unsuccessful in your bid to push them to adopt "less offensive" changes.
Also, your argument is completely invalid when it comes to my site, because gurochan has never ever abused or scammed on steam, so this is a case of catering to the lowest common denominator of special snowflakes.
