Why is gurochan censored?
It's literally the name of a site. It's like censoring 4chan or 8chan.

It is when people keep linking to it and bypassing the filters to post and advertise a inappropriate NSFW site on an open forum forbidding posting such content.

In an ideal world, people would simply follow the rules. Sadly we don't live on one, so we have to step in and measures have to be taken to be sure rules are enforced.
I mean, I see where you're coming from, but this seems overkill. Chat and discussions are now censored like hell

I havent noticed it myself

then again I dont like weirdass links to my friends in general, let alone those hurrduurr imaa so funneh posting memes all day ones

This isn't acceptable, punishing everyone for the fault of a couple idiots. I lost the ability to link certain sites which were completely safe. Also, if the fact someone would link an image from a vague domain is going to make you cry out for mother, you need to have your priorities checked. Even in IMs, because someone got pained over it, I lose the ability to link stuff to close friends. This is considered invasive, and I'm sure I'll find something illegal.

If safe sites/links is censored, it could be a fault, then talk to a moderator and let them have a look at the links, if they are safe they might remove them from the filter.

There is nothing illigal in filtering/blocking content, Valve can do what ever they want.

Then I'll nned to start modding the linkfilter out of my client, because all my friends and I do is link pictures and I have no desire to be punished because you're too stupid to not infect a Mac. There's no option to opt-out, not even hidden away or given via an essay. I'd happily do that, too.

Again, it's screwing with my IMs and I already have complete and total control over my account and security. I'm not stupid enough to wade around the abyss with nothing but Windows XP and Internet Explorer.

That said, I noticed it filtering even half the imgur links I put out because of strings happen to appear in the image name. Seriously, cut that out.

Supporting censors is fine if it is just catching phishing sites, but this is "It's not allowed because mommy said so"

Even if you could mod the steamclient, that is a very bad decission, it is against the SSA to tamper with the client in any way.

If we filter an entire domain it's because it was abused A LOT and most likely by scammers.

But there's no legitimate way to support the scripting needed to scam on said site so it's more because of hurt feelings. It's either politically charged meme pictures which I don't care for or porn, which is mostly what I used it for but kept it to private messages anyways. It's already been established that Newell has no interest in my tentacle to human ratio.

Also, as a direct result of this, everyone is harassing me to abandon Steam for Discord. This was the main reason I didn't like this happening, and I still want a way to opt out of the linkfilter. If it's now turning into a tool to drive people AWAY from Steam, it might be too far.

It's a privately owned forum which means the owners get to define what's "offensive" or unacceptable. "Offensive" is entirely in the eye of the beholder. There isn't any way to objectively define for every single pair of eyes doing the beholding. Hence you get the rather loose definition of "I know it when I see it".

There's nothing at all "wrong" with asking Steam to change its policy, but it isn't obligated to do so nor is it doing anything illegal, that I'm aware of, if it declines to do so. Perhaps you can find something in all this that violates a law somewhere. I dunno. My unsolicited advice would be to cease using the platform if their policy in this area "offends" you that much, assuming you're unsuccessful in your bid to push them to adopt "less offensive" changes.

it's a shame to see such a great service become so censorship-happy.
Also, your argument is completely invalid when it comes to my site, because gurochan has never ever abused or scammed on steam, so this is a case of catering to the lowest common denominator of special snowflakes.
MartFassage 2016 年 4 月 4 日 上午 8:32
can we at least have an option to turn off the excessive censorship? it's ridiculous.
Tito Shivan 2016 年 4 月 4 日 上午 8:37
The reasons for blocking out the site have already been explained to you. If you feel the site restriction is not appropriate feel free to contact Steam Support.
