Steam Reviews: Why do people get to down vote anonymously?
Ever since I did a negative review for Shroud of the Avatar, people have been coming by and down voting all of my other reviews. I have written well thought out reviews only to have them down voted and all around the same time so that shows intent. Are there any plans in the future to update the review system to address this issue? If someone comes by your review and down votes it, it should show their user name. This issue would go away over night when fanbois get called out for their nefarious trolling.

There are so many negative reviews for that i find it hard to believe you were singled out. Maybe something else is going on?

If it showed peoples names it would only allow people to go around and take revenge on everyone who downvoted them by downvoting them back. Causing another problem.

To prevent exactly what you're trying to do; cause a fight.

Again, it happend right after I did my review. I had reviews that no one even voted on up there for over a year and all the sudden, 6 down votes? Yeah something is going on alright.

I'm not trying to cause a fight just hold people accountable.

I can't believe you support this behavior and you don't even give me the benefit of the doubt.

Because people would retaliate against them. They are entitled to their opinion and their opinion of others opinions.

Why should it be shown who downvoted?

"This issue would go away over night when fanbois get called out for their nefarious trolling."

And that is why it wouldn't happen.

What about people who downvote favorable reviews? Why are they not an issue? Why is it only those who downvote negitive reviews?

Showing who up/down voted would cause too many problems. Just leave them to their opinion and move on with life.

Because you want to call people out. That always leads to fighting and arguments.

How about we require your real name before posting a review. Wouldn't that cut down on negitive reviews and positive reviews of "bad" games?

Or would it cause people to harass you in real life?

I've seen your "review" of Shroud of the Avatar and read your incomprehensible "complaint" thread about it being flagged, you're definitely trying to cause a fight. People don't need to be "held accountable" for disagreeing with you.

I didn't say that it wasn't? I was stating my issue but forgive me for not thinking of all the reasons that the review system is skewd. /smh

tmwfte, the only person trying to start a fight is you. You are trolling my post not the other way around

I predict another wave of downvotes in the near future. You made a thread complaining about your review getting flagged and thus inticed people to look it up. And see all your other reviews in the process. Just as you do now.

I did give you the benefit of the doubt, until i looked at the reviews for that game and saw nothing but negative ones. If it's just because you made a negative review for that game, those 6 people must be very, very busy.

But it isn't skewed. Up or down vote of a review has no effect on the overall score. Asking that people who downvote a review to be revealed would cause a skew, but only for individual reviews.

The fighting and arguing it would cause would not be worth what could be gained.

Typical, blame the victim mentality

Disagreeing with you and pointing out reasons why naming those who downvoted you =/= trolling, nor trying to start a fight.

You're stating that anyone downvoting you is a "fanboy" doing "nefarious trolling", you can't accept that people don't agree with you and/or don't like your "reviews". The very premise of the thread is you wanting to start a fight.
MorbiusTV Jul 7, 2016 @ 7:00am
You obviously missed my original point.. I had no down votes for games that I had reviewed years ago and then after the negative review I gave, all of my reviews have down votes.

Where is the "victim"? You make an issue out of something irrelevant.
