I'm not a professional gamer by any means but I think you'd have to start looking at leagues, tournaments and how to participate in those.

As for paying bills, I guess it's possible if you earn enough and are good enough.

Maybe approach a professional player and see what information/help they can give you.

Yes you are right Ren connection is the key to have a mini 'success' just searching for somethings like streaming and other ways to make money out of gaming.

I'm just going to say this. If you want to make a living off of gaming prepare to make it your job. You will need to put a significant amount of time and effort into it, but don't expect things to turn out in your favor just for doing so. If you want gaming to remain a fun hobby of yours, I'd recommend just finding a more practical job.
Adding to what Dakota said: keep in mind that actually becoming a pro player to the point of earning cash is not something many can achieve, same goes to become a famous youtuber.

If you are doing it simply for the cash, you may burn out very fast.

it is more lucrative to become a gaming "entertainer" or content creator/streamer as they call it, then being a professional player. however, the only reason you are doing this is the entertaining and informative aspect you channel to your audience. your schedule will be more more filled with managing your content and you have to gather a wider variety of knowledge but it should be also normally alot less stressful. it is also alot dependable on your personality and the image you want to present and that normally takes years to grow and to grow into.

pro player, highly mentally dependable on that you have the will to beat everyone and become the best, getting a living out of it is a sideeffect, you usually do not live in luxury conditions while being a pro, if you start doing that and not saving up your money for your later days, wear a helmet, because the faceplant will hurt.

both, if done correctly and you can finally call it your job, it will be not your standard 7-8 hour office job. you might achieve someday to have that but for the start it is a 24/7 mindset as an entertainer. as a pro, nope, not possible, if you slack off or lose focus, you will be a burden for your team or not doing well on tournaments to represent your sponsors enough that they continue to support you.

since being a pro is ... reserved for the upper 0.something% that is unlikely to happen. with patience you can go to entertainer route next to a normal job and then switch to it but don't forget, that is basicly as having 2 jobs for some years.

whatever you do, make sure that gaming is not your only income cause even if you can make it work there are down times, you need something to supplement it, like a part time job
