Is threatening to DDoS someone punishable?

Some kid is tryna tell me he'll DDoS me over Steam. I know for a fact he can't get my IP over Steam, he has 4.2k hours in CSGO tho so I'm wondering if I can get his account banned.

If he can or can not DDoS you is not the issue. Threatening another member to harm him in any way is against the rules and I would report this behaviour.

Yeah I sent a report to the Steam support with screenshots and his 32 and 64 steam IDs, hope they do smth.

Text chat is no proof? I have screenshots of him threatening me, not just a copy paste. And I already blocked him, I really want to see him banned aswell though.

Obviously the user is just a troll kid attempting to treat you, nothing more. Performing (D)DoS requires at least some botnets altogether in order to carry out such attacks hence D letter (Distributed). Unless if it is DoS which everyone can do it in just few steps but a sane person would not do it nor from his / her network anyway.

To sum this up, the kid is just bored I pressume so better move along. I can bet he / she doesn't even know what is (D)DoS all about.

Report him using the report function on his profile or create a steam support ticket if you feel you must.

Don't get into a back and forth crap-fest with him because you'll just get yourself in trouble too.

I know it's a troll, it's some little boy that doesn't know how anything works. The reason I want to have him banned is because he has 4.2k hours on his account in CSGO and it'd be a pretty big bummer for him if he got banned. I've got screenshots of him threatening with DDoS which, if Valve cares at all about threats, should result in at least a temporary ban.

screenshots are no evidence either. dude, what is the thing called we are sitting in front of? 5 minute and basic editing skills and everybody can forge everything. http://i.imgur.com/69oc8k2.png

and since Steam does not keep log of textchat, everything you can provide can be forged. so you are just wasting your time. you are on an end-consumer line, it is not like he can permanently damage you.
