My steam refund is taking too long

I bought 2 games accidentally because I didn't notice that the sale is over, I didn't open them or install them I immediately requested a refund

I know that the money takes some time to return to my account but the request hasn't been approved yet, It's been more than 8 hours

How long does it usually take?

8 hours and you're already moaning that it's taking too long? It's the weekend plus Support can take up to and beyond 24 hours. You are in a big queue so all you can do is wait.

and sorry about that, the last time I refunded a game was 4 or 5 years ago and I remember it takes 2 hours or less if I haven't played the game, but if it's normal like this I guess I'll wait, how much longer do I have to wait?

Nobody can answer that. You are in a queue of around 160,000 refund tickets to it may be within 24 hours of your initial submission or it maybe after.

there are not 160k open refund requests. that number is all submitted refund requests in the past 24 hours. at the moment there are around 20k open tickets waiting for a reply, combined from everything, not just refunds.

also note that besides spot tests and checks for possible refund abuse, the refund requests are entirely automatic and that automatism is rate adjusted and still even on a sale and explosion of refund requests, the replies will not take longer than a few hours at max.

but ... any recent credential change = 3 day delay until reply. if the credential change was done any time before the refund request, the request received reply will mention a delay.

Your profile claims that you live in the Middle East.

Even if a valve employee magically appeared and approved your request immediately, wiring money from steam's account in the US to an account in the Middle East takes multiple days. And that count would start from Monday since weekends aren't bank days.

How long does it usually take?

I refund to my Steam Wallet. It takes 24 hours for it to be complete and usually a few hours for it to be acknowledged. If you're refunding to your bank it will probably still take 24 hours, but longer for it to be processed by the banks.

It can take a few days or up to a week to be debited back to your account
