Was browsing through my game collection on the past weekend and stumbled over some titles that immediately provoked a gag reflex, so got kind of curious, what are your worst games you've spent your hard earned cash on? Let's see if some of my errors pop up on your lists too...

Yup, DMC 2 that game was definetely the worst DMC game. always wondered why people complain about DMC 2013 when DMC 2 actually exists.
TR Reboot Trilogy on the other hand was pretty awsm imo.

TR Reboot Trilogy on the other hand was pretty awsm imo.

The Reboot Trilogy is the definition of trying to make something mainstream by removing everything challenging and dumbing down everything.

Its like the Thief Reboot, fine for being generic, but really bad in comparison to the rest of the series

Are you young? Not meant as an insult or anything, but i see some retro games on there that were very well recieved back in the day.

Delta force, Army Men, Men of Valor...And especially Black & White, which got great reviews and still has a huge fanbase, even these days.

But i do understand that if you buy a game from the early 2000's and play it for the first time in modern years that it can be a different experience. That's why i'm wondering if you are a young gamer.

legit question, but actually, slowly approaching my late 30s and being a gamer since the early 90s, i believe I'm among the older gamers here... ;)

I experienced the hype around some of the older games you mentioned (and even fell for it) first hand. I bought Black and White full price back in 2001 just because everybody kept telling me that it was the best game of all time, but i got bored by it literally within minutes. Not a truly bad game, but i still couldn't force myself to finish it until today and it was one of my personal biggest wastes of money on a video game ever. Still have the game though.
Delta Force Black Hawk Down is another one of those cases. I got it around 2004 or so, when it was still relatively fresh, but lost interest after only a few hours. By that time we already had shooters like Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Aliens versus Predator 2 and Jedi Knight 2 and compared to those Delta Force Black Hawk Down seemed incredibly dated and simplistic to me, even for 2003 standards.

Black and White was good... but definitely got boring fast. Delta Force: BHD was disappointing because the multiplayer for Land Warrior was far superior and the singleplayer was overly scripted and the narrow focus was not suited to Novalogic's strong points.

Also, you hit the nail on the head that MoH:AA, RtCW, AVP2, and JK2 basically owned the early 2000's.

50 year old gamer here. Spent my money on Civilization 3 many years ago. Knew nothing about the series. Thought it was like Axis & Allies ( windows 98 version which I still have the cd-rom for & LOVE IT. Even have the old 1st edition board game version).

BOOOYYYYYYY was I wrong!!! Tried suffering thru it since I spent the money. Gave up after 20 minutes. Game makes ZERO sense to me and I grew up with Atari/Magnavox Odyssey & ColecoVision games which 90% of those games made no sense...Looking at youuuu Haunted House (1981). Now it sits in my inventory collecting dust & mocking me for wasting 8 bucks.

I also bought lootboxes ... e.e; and luckily I stopped.

Funny, Civ 3 was my intro to the series and I loved it, I played Civ 5 and Civ 6 and for games that came out 10-20 years later I believe that Civ 3 was better. I got it for like $2.90 AUD, so it was also a good financial pickup

Yeah I think Half Life 2 is overrated and Clownfield 2042 could have been a lot better

It's so interesting how tastes are so extremely different. Half-Life 1 and 2 have been my absolute favorite games for years and are still in my Top 5 Games of all time even today. Especially HL 1 turned me completely to PC gaming and was the first game ever that showed me
1. how cinematic a videogame can be and
2. that fist-person-shooters are the best genre ever. ;)

If there are any games that are the antithesis of being overrated, I'd say it's the Half-Life Games.

I think HL was a good game back to 1998, but HL 2 was not really so great after the zombie level, more of the same, but with bigger maps.

Otherwise, I still feel scammed by Cyberpunk 2077 on day one, and Fallout 4 is really a bad RPG. At least they have mods, others have not this luck.

None for me, because I refined my buying abailities decades ago.

I never buyanything without knowing exactly what I'm letting myself in for beforehand.

There are some games from indie bundles I've not touched but that's because I didn't rely on them.

In fact of the many thousands of games I have I can't remember the last time I bought a game that left me like this. Probably from the 1980s.
